lol a near 37 yr old shot to pieces Joe, beat a good as prime 39yr old RJJ. Calzaghe moved up for the first time, in Hopkins back yard, and with biased Cortez saving Hopkins from a TKO, beat up on a prime as good as ever ( see hw he demolished Pavlik) p4p #3 ring number 1 LHW. De La Hoya just beat up on old men and hype jobs, lost every meaningful fight he fought.
lol a green convicted Hopkins, no wonder he chose Hopkins over a guy that ended the G-Mans career, because G-Man actually outboxed RJJ . The end p.s. STEVE COLLINS: Well James, I travelled to Pensacola to see Roy Jones fight and I actually climbed into the ring after his fight. I accused him of avoiding me and I challenged him live on national TV. At the post-fight conference I spoke to Jones and the press, I called him a coward and a yellow dog and I offered to fight him, winners take all. I would have beaten Roy Jones and he knew it!
the crowning moment: Roy Jones openly admitted - "I'll never fight Joe Calzaghe he's too dangerous, he's fast, powerfull, hungry, and unbeaten. I can make easier money defending my belts against easier fighters".
atschatschatsch your kidding right? I hope so....jones was on the slide since the second tarver fight atleast
and here is joe at 6:35 in this video 8 months before facing jones, admitting jones was shot....I rest my case.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AWDtzdAYTOA
so what, lol, it's called marketing, you insult your next opponent, they're bound to get fired up and make the fight happen. Don't you know anything? LOLLLLL:rofl:rofl:rofl:rofl
yeah thats why he put the pen to the paper as well in his book, saying jones was shot, and was not a legend because he had 4 loses at the time the book was written.....i guess that makes ali, and srr not a legend then joe? aye? and you wonder why he really split with frank warren? warren wanted him to fight the winner of pavlik-taylor 2....joe said no.....and wanted a shot jones at the time:-(
Pavlik is just trying to make a name for himself on my back," Calzaghe told The Sun. "I tried to get a fight with him twice before. We approached him immediately after I beat Jeff Lacy in 2006 but he declined. "He fought and beat Jermain Taylor instead and immediately had a rematch with him to dodge me again. "It's easy to come out of the woodwork and mouth off when you've already signed to fight somebody else." He didn't even call me out after he beat Gary," he said. "And with no disrespect to Gary, he's a totally different kettle of fish to me. "When Pavlik beat Gary, he actually didn't say anything about me at all afterwards. "It's funny that he's started to get a bit brave now that I've signed to fight Jones." Pwned you again Next
yeah and instead of fighting a credible opponent in a dawson, or even a johnson for christ sakes he chooses a 43 year old hopkins and nearly 40 year old jonesatsch...... and when did the sun become a credible boxing editoral newspaper? the only thing that has gotten pawned, is the smoke and mirrors carear of joe calzaghe come again?:hi:
Calzaghe wasn't old enough for Dawson to man up to. Anyway, we're going back over old ground, I proved Calzaghe killed a prime RJJ and Hop, you're just incensed that you can't argue otherwise. P.S When Joe quotes something, and Pavlik cowers, that is credible. The end Next.
He certainly wasn't a cherry picker, but he was the biggest hype job of the last 20 years. Biggest Fights: Mayweather Jr, Trinidad, Whitaker, Pacquiao, Mosley, Hopkins Biggest wins: An Old Julio Cesar Chavez 2x, Pernell Whitaker (Sweet Pea was robbed), Fernando Vargas, Ike Quartley, Genaro Hernandez Biggest Losses: Shane Mosley 2x, Manny Pacquiao, Floyd Mayweather Jr., Felix Trinidad, Hopkins Of his contemporaries, he's falls behind Roy Jones Jr, Bernard Hopkins, Shane Mosley.. and would probably be the #4 fighter of his generation.
Oodson is the dumbest guy I've ever read on this site!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11 1) Hopkins was Prime at 43 years-old 2) Read Joe's biography were he praises Roy back in his prime and basically discusses how impossible it would be to beat him. 3) Joe's promoter kept him from going to America to fight risky fights like Jones, Hopkins, or any of those guys. To Joe's credit, I think he wanted to fight them, but the smart thing to do from a money perspective was to fight Euro-bums. 4) If by beating Hopkins, Calzaghe now owns "his scalps" .. well that would make it impossible to figure out rankings within divisions. With that mentality Roy Jones has beaten: Oscar De La Hoya, Bernard Hopkins, Felix Trinidad, Kelly Pavlik, Winky Wright, Michael Nunn, James Toney, Dairusz Michalczewski, Vassily Jirov, Iran Barkley, Roberto Duran, Lesilie Stewart, Steve Collins, Donald Curry, Evander Holyfield, Hector Camacho, Yori Boy Campas, Pernell Whitaker, Ricardo Mayorga Wow, now no one can dispute Roy's Resume because through beating Toney, Hopkins, Hill, Trinidad, Ruiz, Tarver, Griffin, and others.. he has the aforementioned "Scalps". Duche!
Oddson? He didn't type those stupid post. It was anglosaxon who is in love with Joe Calzaghe. As you mention Calzaghe admit that he wouldn't have anychance of beating a prime Roy Jones in which he said he was glad that he fought a shot Roy Jones cause he knows he have a better chance of Winning. Angle is right up there with "Pavlik is champ" as the 2 biggest ******s in the history of esb forum. To say Hopkins at 43 years old is at his prime cause he was top 3 p4p is freaking a ******ed comment. ^^^^I don't get it if Hopkins was a prime 43 year old cause he was top 3 p4p then why he said Whitaker was a shot old man when Whitaker was top 3 p4p when he fought De la hoya?
HOYA was a good ''A'' level fighter that has accomplished great things in his career and deserves his high praises but he's failed to deliver against the very best he fought, for the most part at least....
But bro...all his losses were very close and we all know that he really won against Trinidad plus Mosley II.... With those kinds of fights, not sure that the proclaimed best boxers today would have won all of those tough ones too....
