Golovkin says a lot of things, and evidence suggests he doesn't always mean what he says.

    You've misunderstood my point.

First off, I agree with all of the above.

Yes, the circumstances between Floyd and Manny were vastly different.

What I'm saying is: everything has to be factored in to the equation before making a flat fee. Oscar can't simply make him an offer that's his highest pay day to date. That alone doesn't cut it. It has to be a fair offer based on their previous PPV's, what's at stake, and the projected estimate of their PPV numbers. If all of that is taken into account fairly, then I would have no issue whatsoever. I guess we'll have to wait see. But Robney is right, it draws parallels with Floyd-Manny. Because you had a minority who said $40m was fair because Manny had never made anywhere near that amount. And although that was true, it wasn't fair for Floyd to earn 2-3 times more, when he couldn't make that amount against anyone else.

Let's say for arguments sake that GG's biggest purse to date is $1.5m.

Let's say that by this time next year he's beaten BJS and he's got all of the MW belts.

It wouldn't be fair if Oscar then came to the table and offered him $3m, claiming it was fair because it was twice as much as what he'd earnt previously. Because again, you'd have to taken into account what's at stake, what Canelo would go on to earn, and what the PPV numbers would gross.

    Basically:

The haters on here wouldn't take any of the above into account. All they'll be interested in: is the difference between his highest figure from the past and what Oscar was offering. Again, that's why me and Robney have used the Floyd-Manny situation as an example. It doesn't matter if you're talking about $40m and $100m, or $4m and $10m. The principle is the same. And like Robney, this whole thing reminds me of Floyd-Manny. It's the first thing that came to mind when I read it. Again, we'll have to see how it unfolds, but to the hard of thinking members of society, Oscar can pretend that he's trying to make the fight by offering him his career highest payday, when it actual fact it could be a complete joke. But I know that as soon as Oscar has made the offer, guys like IsaL will be waiting to shred him if he doesn't accept it. Because all he'll focus on is the purse itself.

Canelo doesn't seem to care about fighting Golovkin. Golovkin has the choice to take the offer or leave it. Canelo isn't really obliged to give Golovkin a payday.

Feeling better all the time about Schaefer and Haymon taking De La Hoya for a ride and stealing all his fighters. Shameful stuff from the Golden Boy.

Floyd really tainted the sport. Too many are trying to copy his matchmaking strategy.

Canelo doesn't have any belts. None. Not even a junior middleweight one. There's no reason for GGG to beat that coward anymore. He surrendered the belt he had already, tacitly admitting inferiority. GGG needs to fight other middleweight belt holders now and unify the titles instead of picking on no hopers. Saunders and Jacobs have a little self-respect and aren't going to just hand over their belts without a fight.
