And? Nobody cares for Ring belts, they are more of a fixture and a nice add on.
    It's not a real belt.

It's the only belt, that signifies who the champ of the division is. The other belts are just Alphabet trinkets.

I like the calculations. But this next year is going to be so interesting.

GG could potentially obtain the WBO belt against BJS and/or fight Eubank in other huge PPV's. Although the Brook fight is poor, the PPV numbers should be great.

Meanwhile, there's talk of Canelo possibly fighting Rubio or Stevens next, with just a fight on Cinco de Mayo before a fight with GG.

It's all ifs and buts at the minute, but if Canelo only fights twice more and the PPV numbers are poor, whilst GG adds the final belt and has high profile fights, again, things could look very different in 12 months.

Canelo's reputation has taken a huge hit, whilst GG is definitely on the rise. His fan base will increase dramatically if he looks great against Brook.

    Ring belt is vacant at 200, 175, 168, 154, 147, 135, 130, 126, 122, 118, 115 and 105.

No real champs and just trinket holders in those divisions? :icon_domokun: :flaming:

Agreed, things could look very different in 12 months. GGG's stock is rising fast.

Whether an offer is fair or not is a matter of opinion though. Canelo's team and fans will probably have a very different opinion on what is fair than Golovkin's team and fans.

Canelo and his team don't seem to be in any rush to fight Golovkin. He might only be willing to fight Golovkin for a huge financial incentive (i.e. the vast majority of the money). If Golovkin doesn't accept his offer and let Canelo have the vast majority of the money, Canelo might be more than happy to abandon/postpone the fight (again).

Golovkin on the other hand seems keen to fight Canelo. If Canelo offers Golovkin a flat fee which is as much or more than he could make against anybody else, he might take it because it would make sense financially.

And if Golovkin is willing to take a flat fee then it is a fair offer from GBP and makes sense for them to make that offer.

So what type of offer do you think is acceptable in the greater context? I'm not saying any old flat fee will do, for the record. But I think there's certainly reason to believe a flat rate can be made to work, given Canelo's vastly superior track record as a proven PPV commodity.

Rumsfield, what did you think of my suggestion, $8-12 million?

I think 12 to 15 mill is good. Holyfield got 12 against Tyson, who I think got 25 mill for the fight. So along those lines are fair imo. Regardless he will still make a ton of money..

He didn't drop the belt sooner because GGGs team were letting him make money on it and were not enforcing the mandatory. Canelos team were already trying to get GGGs team to let Canelo milk the belt again in another fight. Once GGGs went to enforce the mandatory they dropped the belt.

The talk of a flat fee already shows Canelos team has a problem with splitting the money and yes you can bet your balls they did not want to give GGG 45%.

Talk is cheap of course a promise or any verbal agreement doesn't mean much especially from someone like Canelo who already showed his word does not amount to much.
