18 out of 20 Ring magazine experts picked DLH. 90% of the forum picked DLH. People feared for Pac's life and wanted Roach head. People accused Roach of only being in it for the money and even ignored his comment on not taking pay if he looses. The guy had sleepless nights worrying about the fight. He deserves all the credit in the world. Had DLH won, 90% of you guys would be like "*******s, told you so, ".
it didn't matter if oscar is fighting at 154 that night. by the way pac and roach planned and execute the fight, oscar would get a trashing. the difference lies not more on oscar that night but how his opponent approached the fight. floyd is just contented to be defensive while pac took the fight to oscar.
We are not at conflict here; Pac is a great fighter and Roach a top trainer,i agree; But a brilliant fighter and top coach was not required that night against Oscar. All those experts and fans would NOT have gone for Delahoya if they had known he would be in the ring at 147.They wouldnt. With those odds on Delahoya,if the people knew Oscar would be so weak and emaciated, the bookies would have lost a fortune on people voting for Pac. I'd have put everything on him.
:rofl Mosley is clearly past it, Margo just happened to be a SLOW, limited plodder who blocks shots with his face.
Well, to be fair, most thought that Oscar would rehydrate to nearly 160 before stepping into the ring. I'm not saying that had anything to do with his performance, but I am betting he wishes he had.
To be fair, how accurate are those "unofficial" weights? Like I said earlier, they tried to make the fight look as close as possible, even in the weigh in Pac had tennis shoes on whilst DLH was bare feet to make them look comparable in size. When they stepped in the ring, DLH clearly looked alot bigger to me and you cant seriously tell me that he didnt even bother hydrating himself between weighins and fight night, cos if he did he would have weighed more than what the unofficial weight said. Also add to that fact, how many people instantly changed their mind soon as they heard DLH's unofficial weight before the fight? Not many.
It was plain to see at the weigh in that Oscar was not in prime shape, in fact he looked like a death camp survivor, my dead mother propped up and compared to the man would have looked better. Everyone who picked Oscar to win this expected him to weigh in at 147 and climb through the ropes at 160...this didn't happen. It was obvious to all right minded fight fans that at fight time something had gone catastrophically wrong with Oscars build up...if a man jumps through the ropes a stone lighter than expected he is in serious trouble. I honestly believe that Oscar did a Duran and in an effort to cut weight headed for the pill cabinet (legal). Diuretics make you **** like a horse and if not handled correctly can have a devastating effect on a fighter....I think that we saw the effects of mishandled diuretics in the Oscar - Pac fight. It was still a great win for Pac but some people are going absolutely overboard with the result, lets face it, a 160 Oscar in good physical shape would have pulverised the Pinoy.
This coming from the man who said all this BEFORE the fight: Regarding what a DLH win would do for Pac's legacy: Comments in reference to the weigh in photos: Hindsight eh. Fight was announced at 147. People say Oscar by KO. Oscar weigh in at 145. People still say by KO. Oscar comes in light fight night. People still say by KO. After the fight, it was the weight :tired:tired:tired
He looked about equally past it in both fights - no footwork, slower hands, little real power. People just assume he was "worse" against Pac because he got dominated worse. Unfortunately, one of the biggest illogics in boxing is that the worse you beat an "aging" fighter, the less credit you get - because the worse that fighter gets beat, the more it's assumed he's "shot". Perversely, Pacquiao would've gotten more credit for this win if he had allowed DeLaHoya to put up a competitive fight.
