ODLH would most likely beat Margarito

ODLH is a more skilled fighter than Cotto, and he's also taller, rangier, harder to hit as clean, and a harder puncher than Cotto.

Not only that, but he's more intelligent and experienced.

I just don't see ODLH quitting against Margarito, and I think you might see the Tornado maybe not get knocked out, but take one hell of a beating.

I know that Oscar fades, but when he fought Forbes he showed no sign of fading, and he was aggressively fighting him from start to finish.

It still is a possiblity that late in the fight, Margarito will take take over and Oscar may begin to run and take a lot of punishment, but I don't really see it. I don't see Oscar running, it's an issue of pride, and I think he's smart enough to put in the bodywork where Cotto should have to slow Margarito the **** down.

Besides, Oscar is no fool. He watches film. He knows what he needs to work on and what to expect and his defense is good enough to block most of the punches that Margarito throws, and he also doesn't have the tendency to lay into and get hit with uppercuts.

Don't get me wrong, Margarito might win on account that he's younger and maybe he just can't be ****in hurt, but everyone gets hurt at some point and ODLH has proven in the past that he can deal with hard charging pressure fighters, and in fact usually whoops their asses.

If this is the case and ODLH actually beats Margarito, you have to put Mayweather's win in perspective. Personally, when I first watched the fight I thought it was a draw because Mayweather had more than enough opportunities to "whup De La Hoya's ass, as Roger Mayweather was screaming," when ODLH began to slow.

I don't know why Mayweather was so hesitant, and while he landed the cleaner shots and blocked about everything that ODLH was throwing, and after watching the fight the second time, Mayweather deserved only a split decision and that's what he got.

Anyway, that fight has to be put into perspective, even though it's possible that Margarito may pose more of a challenge because Oscar generally doesn't fight as a pure pressure fighter like Margarito does.

    So what ya'll think?

I think ODLH doesn't even believe he could or why not fight him rather than go after Pac or Mora

the Forbes fight won't get you a winning argument, is not the same fighting Forbes than Margarito, power and reach are way different.

It would have been a great fight, a shame it won't happen.

If the fight it is at 154, its a easy Oscar fight, if he goes down to 147 its a one sided beatdown.

Dela would LOSE ( same Dela that loss to Floyd).. too much pressure and if little Steve Forbes could dent him, you know MArg is throwing him a beating. Oscar would fade late and the body shots would eat him up..

rounds 1-3 Dela would box great after that , the beating would insue

I would have picked De La Hoya over Margarito about a year ago, but now I'm not so sure.

I only used the Forbes fight as an example because Forbes is relatively slick, although he didn't show much slickness when he fought Oscar, but it takes a lot of energy to go after a defensive fighter for 12 rounds than it does to switch between boxing and fighting.

DLH disagrees with you. DLH is fighting for pride and legacy at this point, don't you think If DLH thought he had any chance of winning he would make the fight happen? To retire a champ after having beaten the (disputed) top WW?

Margarito UD. He outhustles and outpoints DLH who gases from the pace in the later rounds. DLH will get in his shots but it won't do much damage. When's the last time DLH actually let his hands go to try to take out a guy?

I thought he did it against Forbes, but Forbes was just too tough. And it's not like Forbes is some *****. The guy has never been down in his career.

I agree, I think DLH would beat Margo at 154. But people on this site will make you believe DLH would get KO'd in the third round. It wouldn't surprise me at all if Margo won, but people are writing DLH off like he's some bum.

"I don't see Oscar running, it's an issue of pride..."

REALLY? Um, what did he do in the last 4-5 rounds of the biggest fight of his career? That loss vs. Trinidad proves that statement false.
