you could make an arguement that the vargas fight was not a prime DLH, but I have to disagree, that was the best version IMO of DLH, That night he showed every bit of what he had, Boxing, Slipping, Body punching, counter punching allowing his man to throw and miss, he just seemed to be complete that night, a much better version of DLH than what we saw against Chavez.
I think DLH started to fade around the second mosley fight, but in my eyes Oscar was still in his prime when he fought Vargas infact that may have been his peak.
Chavez no doubt was in DLHs prime as well, but that does not mean that the same DLH that fought Chavez was better than the one who fought Vargas, DLH back then was more flatfooted, more of a straight up and down fighter as FMJ would say.
in the Vargas fight you saw him on his toes, and he was so much more fluid in the ring.

but an arguement can also be made that vargas wasn't at his top when delahoya fought him which coulda made delahoya look alot better then he was..

i see your point though ...physically chavez was definitly delahoya prime time

but the whole package...stamina ..power speed...defense..ring generalship .. intellegence...that prime was achieved agianst vargas ...

a vargas delahoya with them atributes has more of a chance to beating margarito then the chavez one cause the one agianst chavez just walked opponets down fireing power shots ...with nothing else helping .. margarito isn't getting walked down like that by anybody ..

except maybe prime time tommy hearns or ray robinson

I'd favor Margarito to win a competitive decision right now

You could say that exactly, However Vargas was juiced up which has to make up for some of the damage that Tito did to him, also since then Vargas has also won world titles.

But its also known that Chavez was past his prime when he fought DLH, so yuo can say the same **** about Chavez that you are about Vargas, However I feel that the Vargas fight was DLHs best performance.

The DLH of the late 90s/early 00s wins a clear decision over Tony.

The DLH of today gets stopped late, or loses a clear decision.

People said that you need defense to beat Cotto, Margarito didnt really need a defense just to take away that body assualt, if Margarito can some how find a way to take away DLHs hook early, I dont see Hoya winning.

Oscar got hit with one solid uppercut from Mayorga and one solid uppercut from Forbes, but the difference between them is that the uppercuts they threw were not expected because they didn't throw them very often, but Margarito throws non-stop uppercuts and Oscar knows what's coming.

IMO Marg beats him into submission. Marg is to much for DLH at this time of his career
