Instead Floyd just utterly picked him apart for twelve rounds.

Yes, Cotto before he fought Mosely had a black eye. He said he didn't know who did it, that it could have been anyone of his sparring partners. But than again many of his sparring partners also left camp a little early because of hurting (possibly broken) ribs.

EDIT: the source was a newspaper in Puerto Rico.

not sure if this is 100% true, but losing weight rapidly or being weight drain, last time I heard DLH was already at 146 and his "age" would make bruises to swell up like those seen on DLH easier...

Doubt it. The fight was going to sell anyway even if Oscar went in on a wheel chair, people wanted to see Pacman KO'd and it didn't matter how Oscar looked, it was also guaranteed according to odds and fans in general that Pac is set to hit the canvas and a lot wanted to see it with a lot hoping it doesn't happen.

Even during his sparring days for the Mayweather fight their were photos of him with a swollen eye.

Didnt any of you guys watch the Pac-DLH fight? They revealed it then when they interviewed Ortiz after his win on the undercard.
