Of all the active "elite/big name" fighters who will never be ATGs....

That he did.. I just don't think he quite makes the cut.. He could though, and I surely wouldn't be mad..

 

Vitali is a nobody at the end of the day. Good fighter but he achieved nothing.The biggest name for me is Wlad. There is nothing great about him.
Ottke had a similar career , and where is he now.

 

Froch has an ATG attitude in an era where everything is all about the zero, and after that it's protecting the 1, 2, 3 in the L column, even a sublimely gifted fighter like Ward is now cherry-picking, when he fights at all. It amazes me that Froch can have any critics on a boxing forum, he will fight anyone anywhere and wins more than he loses (unexpectedly in most cases). Guys like SRR fought everyone because they were paid peanuts and had to keep fighting every week/month to survive, not that I want to be disrespectful to the true ATGs. Froch will eventually rank above all the SMWs the UK has produced so far if he hasn't already, and ranking above the likes of Calzaghe, Benn, Eubank and Watson is no small achievement. It's not like Froch is boring to watch either, I'm now of the opinion that if you don't like Froch, you don't like boxing, and I used to think he was a no-mark.

 

Vitali is king of the mythical H2H match-up. Supposedly a H2H nightmare but got his face amputated by a past-it ATG, and his resume is dog**** even by this era's poor standard.

Khan
Brook
Burns

NONE of them will be ATG's. Not even close. Khan has the most potential to make something of himself out of that list, but his chin is very british so I doubt it.

nice post. i always liked Froch but, i never thought of him like you put it. still think of him as kind of new, even though by now he isn't. this is where being from the uk helps him because history will say Andre Ward is the greatest in these weightclasses, maybe the greatest in the entire generation. but especially if he wins this next fight and keeps winning, he could go down as the best in the uk. which is big. the story is completely written on any active fighter. we get the fights we want, then we'll have better ideas about this...

Ward has shown that he has the skills to be considered the best currently active SMW, but you don't enhance your legacy by not fighting, and certainly not by beating opponents out of their own weight. I said in another thread that I consider Froch the 'greater' fighter of the two, even if Ward does and already has beat him H2H. Froch has other qualities that ensure he will be remembered above Ward, even though he already lost to him, assuming Ward does not go on to do something special.

yeah pretty much. The ATG fighters we know of now are the ones we thought might be prior to their prime. Funny how that works. Mosley,Delahoya, Mayweather etc.

It doesn't matter neither has a career defining fight, ATG on his resume or even a single win over anyone who will get a whiff of the hall of fame, these guys are all time greats and all ya'll are just a bunch of haterz!!! Especially Vitaly, because he really has a win over Lewis who only won because of an illrgal thumb, head butts, the tape on his gloves and razor like dreadlocks. Curse that damn Lennox Lewis, CURSE HIM!!!
