Calzaghe puts power on some punches more than others, you don't have to be a genius to work out those short arm flurries havn't got much on them. Some of his hooks and straight punches have though It's funny he's so feather fisted and not a damn person has just walked through him :yep
Joe said himself his hands are egg shell weak. At the beginning of his career he sat down on his punches and stopped people, as he got older and his hands began to hurt more frequently he had to adapt his style and pull his punches but up his workrate. Chris Eubank said that Calzaghe punches hard.
Personally I think this entire thread is irrelevant. Joe's style is predicated around speed, stamina, work-rate, and boxing IQ, and he is really good at what he does. How much concussive power he has really doesn't matter.
Joe has power....its just not sensational power. he has enough power to gian respect from his opponents....if he is able to land. With Bhop his power wasnt effective b/c he couldn't land enough or cleanly enough for Bhop to begin wilting under joe's constant pressure like so many others had when faced against the welshman. But to suggest he is feather fisted is pretty funny.
I believe that he had outstanding power but it declining after every fight. 23 out of 25 of his first fights, he won by KO/TKO Only 9 out of 20 of his last fights did he win by KO/TKO
outstanding power? wtf is wrong with you he had good power..but OUSTANDING POWER??? no way his 23 TKO of bums in his first 25 fight count for nothing.. but he had power yeah
