Offensive Arsenals: Roberto Duran or Sugar Ray Robinson?

When i saw Ray Robinson fight strong and awkward randy turpin on Sept 12,1951 ,i thought it wasRobinson ahead slightly until Ray suffered a bad cut on his eye,and we thought that the cut was bad enough for the ref to stop the fight soon...But in the tenth round Robinson mounted a do or die assault on Turpin, hitting Randy with every punch in the book...He through all cautuioin to the winds ala a young Jack Dempsey, and the ref had to save Turpins life, by stopping the bout inthe tenth round...Ray pulled that one out of the fire ,for sure...
Would Henry Armstrong in his prime beat the Ray Robinson of 1943, at welterweight ? No,I think Ray at almost 6ft, would have kept Henry at bay with his long jabs and cut up Armstrong with uppercuts as a less talented Fritzie Zivic did later on...Armstrong was really at his best as a featherweight, or lightweight...I would have loved to see prime Armstrong against Willie Pep at 126 pounds...My money would be on relentless Henry
over Pep at featherweight...If Barney Ross couldn't hold off Henry,I don';t think less rugged Pep could...But one never knows!!

 

As close as it gets. Duran possibly even has the better arsenal as in he may own a bigger toolbox to go to work with in this department. But Robinson is the best offensive fighter ever, regardless.

 

Robinson was the better boxer and better puncher ...

 

Joseph barrow and michael gerard may have better purely offensive arsenals than either of these two legends...
