not sure about john joe as a pro tbh, his style is begging for him to be hit, with no headguards that could be a killer

Yep i like what i saw of him in the Olympics but he'd need to tighten up because at times it was reckless and wild rather then controlled defence. He's got fantastic timing and ability to punch on the move and from different angles but defensively he just needs to tighten up as you rightly say.

The headguards do cut off wider punches such as those nasty punches to eardrum and side of head which mess up fighters, i saw a Russian fella in the final pull a punch, it was a left hand inside range which would of hit the opponents jaw but he pulled it cos it would of hit headguard, if he threw that in pro's he could of sparked the lad IMO.

yeah like his style saw him got dropped twice in the olympics, fair enough one was a peach of a body shot, the other was due to his style just walking onto a jab while off balanced

Not think he picks up a better style in Germany though he will have plenty of time to improve .

Forget Germany, McGuigan to manage him, Hearn to promote him.

nice to see that racism is alive and well, oh sorry he is Irish and white so this does not constitute racism. If on the other hand he was black or asian then it clearly would be. This is the first port of call of Amir Khan supporters/sympathisers/family when he gets abuse on these forums

Yeah pro's won't stand off and be scared to be tagged with one shot cos of the scoring. They will steam him if he stands so open.

Hope he does well, As Elvis says Ireland has been quiet for a little while and needs some big nights of boxing again..

Style more suited to the ams alright. Won't be as a good a pro imo. Disagree about McGuigan though. He's got Frampton fighting for an EBU title now.
