Officail CALZAGHE VS HOPKINS POLL

I see Joe winning a UD. Bhop just isn't what he use to be and Joe is still A LOT Closer to his prime than Bhop. And to be honest Joe's Prime may have JUST past b/c I think he's gotten better with age...or FINALLY stepping up in comp allowed us to see a glimpse of what his career should have been filled with. EXCELLENT BOXING! He faught so many B level fighters he never pushed his talents and skills to their peak. I see it being a ugly fight, close but clear victory to the more active Joe. If Hop can slid in a slick counter when Joe is open we may see a big upset by way of BHop KO! But that is not realistic given both fighters current state.

LOL....Joe can beat this version of hop only b/c Hop is a lot slower, and more inactive now than he was. His refexes has also slowed. Joe still looks fresh and he's still relatively young given that he's never been in a real war.

Prime for Prime you have to go with Hop. Joe has Eubanks and Kessler! That's it. He hasn't faught ANYONE on Hops level. Not to discredit the skill and talent level of Joe b/c it's pretty damn abundant, but Hop is a true legend in the ring.

 

I'd still go with Calzaghe prime for prime, though that's obviously be a closer fight than what this will be. Hopkins is going to have so many punches coming at him from so many different angles, his counterpunching's going to suffer because of it. And, once Hopkins does land some straight rights, which I'm expecting he will, Calzaghe's got the chin to walk right through them and land shots of his own anyways.

 

JC has beat no one for me to think he can beat someone as great as hopkins. Really JC fans who has joe beat, O I know kessler but there again who the hell did he beat thats right no one also. Hopkins by embarrasing UD just like he did to tarver

 

A few years ago, it could have been interesting, but Joe was always a better boxer and woul probably always have won.

It would not have been a sure thing, though.


Now, its a blowout, 120-108 or maybe 119-109.
If Bernard is suffering too much, his corner might toss in the towel.

 

Joe has more of a claim to greatness than Bernard does.

Ask yourself all those questions re Bernard.

Calzaghe wins.

Hopkins has faded, he is still better than most guys in or around the weight but the facts are he struggles to fight at a pace which isnt his own and never fights for the full 12 rounds. This is where Calzaghe gets the advantage, as he throws a thousand punches a round and can do 12 busy rounds on his head. Joe might be a southpaw and that might boad well for Hopkins, but this isnt Antonia Tarver he is facing, Hop wont be getting any breathers Joe will be in his face all night long.

Calzaghe wins UD, or late tko.

Im beginning to think Calzaghe has nothing to gain in this fight, his performance will be dismissed because of bernards age, and maybe that is right. The biggest thing Joe will gain in this fight is the Rings 175 title...and maybe a few more million...

 

Taylor beat Hopkins twice. Hopkins was not able psyche Taylor out, and his trench warefar did not prevent Taylor from winning once, and then a second time. If Taylor can handle Hopkins game twice, Calzaghe should be able to handle it once.

 

SO because he hasnt faced a name like Hopkins, he cannot win?

Using that logic, Hopkins wouldnt have a chance against Trinindad, Mosley wouldnt have had a chance against De La Hoya, Honeyghan wouldnt have been able to beat Don Curry, Hatton wouldnt have been able to beat Kostya Tszyu, Pacqiou wouldnt have been able to beat Barrera, Frazier wouldnt have been able to Ali, Turpin wouldnt be able to beat Robinson etc etc etc etc etc etc...

 

Whoever thinks Hopkins is better than Calzaghe is just a fan, probably a baseball fan.

 

I think JC will be very quick, throwing huge amounts of punches with power to burn and will win all rounds....sorry BHOP.
