Urango has a good chin, let's not slight him that..but Berto hit him enough (and cleanly) and Urango never looked dazed or bothered in the least.

Anyways there are a lot of decent options out there for Berto....that said, I think the people in charge know he's not ready and that they jumped at the title a bit too soon. They may call on the likes of Delvin Rodriguez and such, potentially even Ricardo Torres. Don't see Berto taking a "step up" for a long while.

for me, if berto couldn't impress with an opponent like urango, he'll never impress. throw him in with the top 3 to see if he sinks or swims. he'll sink

Maybe not but Cotto's ring instincts and awareness are way above Berto's right now. Not just that but Cotto has a calm about him in all situations where as Berto can get overzealous, overconfident and at times completely lost.

It's not as close as you're making it out to be.

True, and Berto did land 66% of his power punches I believe. Berto's not a big enough draw right now to get a fight with one of the big names even if he wants one so should be awhile before that, I agree.

Yeah but Berto isn't a puncher anyway, if he was he would have at least stun or hurt Urango with his punches. That doesn't matter anyway as long as he keeps up the activity, speed and movement then he can give anyone hell. Urango was just the wrong opponent to make him look good as Urango can be boring with the way he fights and how slow he is.

Will be looking forward to whatever he does, at least he's a prospect worth looking into in an exciting division.

BTW, fire Kellerman. That's guys a ****ing cheerleader.

And toward the end of the fight when he actually starts criticizing Berto, letting a little truth slip out, a couple of comments from Berto shuts him up and keeps hims gushing and compliant through the post fight interview.

You can bet Merchant would have had the balls to call out Berto's flawed performance. He's a champ after all...even if he is fighting like a chump.

Not sure I was trying to "make it out close." I'm just saying compared to taking on the other top guys.

Of all the clinches, Urango initiated very little of them. Berto made himself look boring. People are attracted to speed and power, Berto could've made himself look outstanding. He just didn't have a killer instinct IMO.

What do you mean depends on what you score on? Looking at your scores in the round by rounds tonight its pretty clear to me that you have no ****ing clue whatsoever as to whats going on. Urango maybe won 1 round at best. You give him the fight? Maybe if the fight is judged on whos nuts are bouncing off your chin...:bart

Same can be said about his fight with Forbes. Well it's safe to say then that his loss is coming soon but hopefully he improves.

because beating a world class fighter, a belt holder one weight class apart by total domination(shut out on 2 cards) isnt impressive. wow. perhaps he should have koed a guy whos never been down while wearing a straight jacket and being tied to a ring post.

i agree that on paper it's impressive but look at his performance honestly. It was shite. he dominated but he lacked the skills he's shown against previous, lesser opponents and that doesn't bode well as he advances through the most talented division in boxing

in his previous fights he never really fought a real banger like urango. if he got into an ultra entertaining slugfest with him, theres a possibilty that he could have gave away a fight that he easily won. yeah its not the most impressive, electrfying war that you may have wanted but his technique was very good and like we both said, he dominated. youd do almost anything to win, wouldnt you?
he did what he should have done, boxed beautifully, smothered urangos power(held on for dear life at times), and won. hes still undefeated and still champ.
he didnt have to cheat to win, so try to give him a little respect for what he did accomplish. and maybe not discredit him too much for not fighting the way you may have wanted him to.
