The players who get lots of media attention feel they deserve one million dollars per game. The poor run of the mill players get the same deal for 5 seasons. I think they have a minor problem. They should increase it but nothing major and I think it should be spread around the rest of the team more. I see massive rise in salary cap goes straight to the best player or 2nd best player, and all the other poor *******s in the team miss out because of the top dogs greed. My take on things I could be wrong. :good
Thats exactly it. the top players are already earning more than the prime minister. If they increase the cap then rather than 500,000 not being enough the top players will then be saying a million a season isnt enough. They need to bring in a minimum wage of maybe 60,000 and a maximum wage of maybe 600,000 to spread it around a bit. Besides how greedy can they be? what can you do with a million that you cant do with 600,000?
I was talking to a mate today and we got to talking about it. He had a good take on things. /players who have served a club for more than 5 seasons should be released from the salary cap. And should not come under the cap at all, so their allegated salaries can be distributed to the lesser players. Got me thinking thats a really good idea, so they aren't playing superstars, they were paying loyal players their dues. What is your take on it all??
Have a bath in $400, 000 in $5 notes, take a picture and send it to all the boys earning 600K instead. :hey
I like this idea. Five years of first grade obviously? Anyway, on a player to revenue ratio NRL must be on par with AFL (AFL having much bigger squads) so why can't the top players get paid on par with their AFL counterparts. I'd suggest there is a top heavy administration these days that comes from inheriting a corporate structure from News Ltd
Mate it's all about revenue and crowds. Salary cap issues wouldn't exist if NRL teams could get 50,000 average spectators per game. NRL is spectated HALF at most as much as AFL, so the salaries follow suit. But that administration is in place for a reason, of course there are some roles that aren't needed, but the NRL is hardly dysfunctional.
