Didn't she already get an award by AIBA as the best boxer at the championship? Don't know how it works with the Val Barker trophy for women. If both are under consideration or not.

And yes, Russo shall get killed by Usyk today. Come on!

He was probably too young to go pro, like 17. Also it's hard to get on tv as a flyweight, he was probably making similar money in wsb compared to what Viloria makes.

He should have turned pro after his 2nd, at 21, but I'm sure he badly wanted to redeem his 2 early exits.

This will be my first time watching on my big HDTV screen. :happy (finals being broadcasted live on CNBC & CNBCHD)

Everything else has been on the NBC streaming site on my laptop on a 7x5" fitted screen. (or full-screen at times, but that means not having the extra browser window open to post about the action :!:)

    Round 1

Shiming works the 1-2 and switches back and forth between orthodox and southpaw. Pongprayoon is lunging in with rights over the top and getting clasped inside. Nice stiff jab between the sides of Pongprayoon's headgear and a right cross forced through. Pongprayoon tries to work his way inside again and gets grabbed again. Big whipping right hook from the rear by Shiming. Another clinch. Pongprayoon's headgear gets twisted around. 1-2 to the gloves by Shiming. Shove off by Shiming. Charge inside by Shiming, clinch. Pongprayoon can't get off without Shiming rushing him and can't gain the upper hand on the inside grappling with the taller man. Body shot by Pongprayoon. Right jabs by Shiming floating around outside in the southpaw stance. Switch back to orthodox and a sloppy clinch stepping in. Right to the body by Shiming.

    IB's score: 4-1 Shiming

Shimming may well be the first boxer who wins the Olympics without actually winning a bout . The hype alone carries him away . Peace .

    Round 2

Clinch, both slapping around up top and behind the head. Flush right hook by Shiming stepping out. Pongprayoon winds up a right hand but gets checked on the glove. Another twisting grapple inside, Shiming shaking Pongprayoon around. Right hand by Pongprayoon, grazing. Right to the body touches down for Pongprayoon and a left hook to the side of the jaw guard. Shiming gets caught in a headlock. Pongprayoon is warned for digging his elbow into him in the clinch. Shiming flashes a feint combo outside, then barrels in with his arms folded up and bounces off Pongprayoon to spring back before the Thai can react. Solid right hand by Pongprayoon. More distance helping Pongprayoon out, popping the high left jab and not letting Shiming drop the blanket on him without getting discouraged. Shiming tries to whip overhand rights on the way in and lean down on Pongprayoon. Push to the canvas by Pongprayoon. Clinch.

IB scoring: 4-3 Pongprayoon, 7-5 Shiming
