The massive memberships certainly would help!

 

a lot of people say that, & Homebush is nowhere near my place, i still travel out there for the majority of games, but its comfortable, the members facilities, bar etc is great, i dont think the view is as bad as people make out

After watching two Souths games at the SFS last year i realised i was seeing it through nostalgic rose coloured glasses, its still enjoyable to see games there, but its looking very tired & worn, uncomfortable etc, it really needs an update

I'd be happy to go back to the SFS if the SCG trust comes along & offers us a better deal when our current one is up, we're a better crowd puller & a better proposition than Easts, at the same time i'd hope they'd give the place a decent refurbishment, because the facilities at Homebush are top class for fans & players

 

well Membership has obviously taken on massive importance now that Leagues clubs are leaking money all over the place & with increased gambling taxes they are unlikely to be able to provide grants to sporting bodies, which was their original charter

So sponsorship & membership are two of the major forms of revenue for footy clubs at the moment, plus obviously gate receipts & NRL grants

Every club is going mad trying to get fans to change the way they view sport & embrace coming a member, thankfully Souths have been somewhat more succesful than most
