plenty more, i dont feel the urge to discuss them with a peanut such as you, at least we produced juniors unlike Manly who raped & pillaged every club / state imagineable through foul means or fair

Anasta is Piggins nephew btw, but well done for trying

Souths buy plenty of players too mate. :deal

They all do. The days of playing Juniors only is over. Just look at one of the most expensive player buys of NRL History. Greg Inglis.

have a look at how many juniors are in Souths top 25

have a look at how many players Souths have developed for over 100 years, Souths juniors for as long as they have existed pay all rego, all uniform etc, all you need is a pair of boots

when it comes to buying premierships Manly are absolutely renowned & hated across the board for it, i'm sure any Parra supporters, Wests supporters etc will agree

I wouldnt say it's one of the most expensive.
I've heard people say we got him for 600K, but it doesnt add up.
Our original deal (which Inglis agreed to) was 300K cap money only. The NrL knocked it back and made us sacrafice Champion to agree to the Inglis deal.
No way was Champion on 300K. 150-175K max would be more appropriate.'

When Sandow went to Parra, Shane Richardson said that Souths final offer to him was the most we've ever offered a player. One hit wonders like Leo Dynover were getting 600k back in those crazy days.

Absolutely, and has been for quite some time. We were way too late to come to the party and the results are there for all to see.

I still reckon Ian Roberts went to manly for the man sausage on offer there, rather than the money.

I was under the impression that he went to Manly because thats where all the ***s rallied??

I'm sure Souths will win a premiership again, but it is going to have to take some radical thinking/structuring, possibly undermining everything WOR brags about.

    So close, yet so far.
It's one thing to get a premiership winning team, and another thing to actually win a premiership. Being a top 4 side isnt that hard an achievement, but the competition is so tight and open these days, it basically comes down to getting that 5% more.

Our roster looks good, but I dont believe our team has the footballing brains to win a competion.

thats the good thing about the team these days, theres plenty of depth coming through like Clark & Peats, Farrell etc, so the team evolves, obviously some of the dills will fall by the wayside, i'd say it will be within the next 3 to 4 years, #21 :good

    :deal

I'm sure Manly thought the same way with their spending sprees...

Lets have a look at teams who have had some of the best line ups in recent history.

    Dragons 2010-2011
    Storm 2006-2010
    Broncos 2003-2009
    Penrith 2008-2010
    Eels 2009-2010
    Tigers 2005-2011
    Titans almost every year.
    Manly 2006-2011

There is a lot of overlaps which is why noone can say they have it in the bag straight away.

It's not like the 80s when two teams reign supreme etc.

Souths need alot more than Managerial and Roster success.
