Queensland Cup? He was playing for the Broncos, and played about 60% of the games on offer. He was signed by the Rabbits when he wasn't playing to his proper potential. But to say he was in QLD Cup is a bit rich... A great buy for Souths though, the man is a loose cannon in the centres... Agree on the rest... Hang on isn't JM an Eagles supporter? The irony indeed...
See, there's my point - who have Manly got that would suggest they are "buying a premiership"? Their big purchase/marquee players are Kite and Lyon, and they've had them for 5+ years now. Everyone else is either a local junior or was scouted and brought through the grades. But they were still able to flog a team full of salary cap rorters chock-a-block full of marquee players by a record 40 points to nil in the 2008 Grand Final :yep What have LOL@Souffs achieved? wide_open_cnt_muscle will be on here shortly to bleat on about history, bending over and taking it up the arse from Murdoch, old cnts running on to Redfern Oval to play first grade with blood up their sleeves from skinning rabbits in the streets of Redfern that same day, local juniors, etc, but at the end of the day, anything he accuses other clubs of doing, LOL@Souffs have done, it's just that they are so sucky they can't even "cheat" right LOL@Souffs
Seriously 2008 had a team of ATG! Brett Stewart, Glenn Stewart, Steven Matai, David Williams, Jamie Lyon, Matt Orford, Brent Kite, Matt Ballin, Anthony Watmough, Steve Menzies. That right there is a ****ing good line up. :deal The other side had as many superstars cept Manly were a juggernaught that game. Come on now though, Manly are the worst at trying to buy Premierships.
You obviously don't understand the concept of irony. That's crap about Taylor, he spent 3 seasons at the Broncos, but you're trying to make out he was a reserve grader lucky to get a run in firsts Who said they have to be superstars? According to wide_open_labia, every other club has no local juniors and relies on buying talent from elsewhere, therefore they have no integrity. Let's take a look at Souths current roster and see how many of them are "local juniors" as oppposed to "bought talent" shall we?: Areaiiti - kiwi Asotasi - ex-Bulldog George Burgess - pom Luke Burgess - pom Sam Burgess - pom Carr - ex-Shark, Cowboy, Tiger Clark - local junior Corrigan - Central Coastie Crocker - QLDer, ex-Roosters and Storm Everingham - ex-Manly and Wests NSW Cup player Farrell - South Coastie Geddes - Southern Highlander Hunt - ex-Bronco Inglis - ex-Storm Johnston - North Shore junior Judd - local junior King - ex-Storm, Central Coastie Lowe - QLDer Luke - kiwi McKinnon - local junior McQueen - QLDer Merritt - local junior Peats - local junior Pettybourne - kiwi Reynolds - local junior Roberts - local junior Starling - South Coastie Sutton - local junior Talanoa - kiwi Taylor - QLDer, ex-Broncos Tyrell - QLDer In that list of 31 names, you've got 8 local juniors, approximately 25%. That becomes less when the above pool is reduced to the 17-man playing side. This content is protected
You wait and see wide_open_felcher's reply to this, he'll try to change the subject by flipflopping and crapping on about grown men skinning rabbits in front of horrified kids in early Federation day Redfern because life was so tough in South Sydney etc Or maybe he'll start on with membership numbers again, or how This content is protected preferred to be relegated rather than "bend over and take it up the arse from Murdoch" This content is protected
You wanna know what's ironic? That Murdoch coming in and ****ing the North Sydney bears over effectively doubled This content is protected player draft area up into and including the Central Coast. Prior to Norths being relegated, they had the largest junior draft area. With Superleague forcing Norths to merge with Manly and then bowing out gave This content is protected Norths' draft area. But you won't hear wide_open_shithole piping up about that, oh no, he'll keep that little fact quiet and carry on about how This content is protected stuck it to the man and claim any junior from what was previously Norths draft area as a This content is protected "local junior" :yep This content is protected and wide_open_mangina
so bitter since when were we given Norths area?? They play as our NSW cup team, big ****, saves money, most teams have affiliations, doesnt mean we have anything to do with their juniors
Just added a few that you missed still a pretty good success rate compared to most only counted 6 locals at most at manly, thats a bit sad
Oh & the irony is in you calling mme an elitist **** & in the next sentence calling a bunch of blokes scruffy, flea-bitten hasbeens, sounds a bit snobbish & elitist to me But its pretty obvious that your "modus operandi" is to just abuse me, i wont stoop to that level, i refuse to be dragged into the gutter by a common fan of boxing, you're probably a manly supporter living in the western suburbs, such common trash out there, manlys not much better, mount druitt by the beach
He was signed as a Bronco, but at the time when he signed with Souths he had only played 30 games for the Bronco's in over 3 seasons. He was on the outer at Brisbane. Bennett didnt like him, and Henjack probably took Bennett's advice when he took over. Even in the All Stars game a few weeks back Bennett only gave him about 15 minutes of game time. Yes he had a lot of potential, but so does basically everyone who plays in the Brisbane system. The Bronco's had made the decision that he was surplus to requirement, and that he was a lazy footballer, and wanted him out. At the time, there was a lot of truth to that too. Souths signed him in March 2009. He was playing in the Queensland Cup then, but yes, he did later make it back up to first grade, and cemented his spot there.
