At least i didnt say Warriors inclusion was a joke, I mean Im not selling PNG Rugby, I dont give 2 ****s about them but to basically ignore expansion into a country that would have the biggest support base in the NRL as soon as it opened up is quite strange. If they or any other bid successfully tick all of the NRLs boxes then it should be taken seriously.
I agree, but that if is a huge ïf"and one that I cant see happening soon. Japan on the other hand... :think :hey
these are the wins that remind me why im a parra fan.. ill be doing laurie nichols impersonations all night now.
Hmmm well lets see what would tick the NRL's boxes. 1. Does this team have a potential for a huge following? Yes it does. 2. Does this team have the potential for NRL Level playing? Perhaps. 3. Will this team provide accomodation and ammenities befitting of a professional organisation? Probably not. 4. Will it be a profitable venture. Most definitely not. They would be all that the NRL cared about. Especially this whole deal with the Gold Coast would scare anyone off. The Warriors inclusion WAS a joke. :deal All fans of the NRL acknowledge that Teke. As I said I'm not overly opposed to it, but National means one country (nation) I last read.
Well there you go, all of the NRLs boxes werent checked and the expansion into New Zealand was a failure Australians only please
I dont mind the Warriors being in the comp, but the NRL's criteria for clubs to reach back in 1999 was a joke. Souths proved that they were capable of standing on their own two feet, but still failed the çriteria that was supposed to be designed to make clubs financially capable of staying in the comp. A year or maybe even less later, Auckland Warriors basically folded and needed private ownership and a name change to bail them out. Despite them somehow being one of the top 4 teams that met the criteria. Does PNG have enough juniors, or local playing talent to compete at NRL level - No. How much would you have to pay players to play over there - Too much. I cant see it happening mate.
I dont care if it happens or not and Im not pushing for it but PNG wants it and the NRL knows of their desire. That's all that can be said about the situation. I think you have assumed wrong with PNG Jnrs, there are gazillions of jnrs over there. Literally every kid has a footy and wants to play NRL
Their juniors are so far away from NRL level, it's not funny. They need so many systems in place for the jump in transition to become realistic, and that all comes down to even more money, which they dont have. Perth should be the next team in the competition, them either another Queensland team or one from the Central Coast.
that doesnt mean theyre all nrl standards teke. png people tend to be a bit on the small side. obviously theres some behemoths there but their national side is full of 35 year olds. and you want them to sustain that week to week AND have the depth to establish junior sides? they cant do it.
Toovey's honeymoon appears to be over. :hey 3 losses in a row, 2 of them against Sharks and Parra cant be good. How was the game anyway?
was a pearler. It has to be said that manly were a bit off in patches though. the travel has got to them i think. They looked like theyre stinging to get back to brookie. forans out. hamstring
Ok ok, they are small ppl, who probably wont be able to sustain week to week standards that meet your requirements. All I did was pt out to Pecks that the sport is very popular amongst kids over there. Fellas I am not part of the PNG bid :deal
I agree. It was a great first half though. Second half was OK considering that Manly had lost some players... But man that last 20 min was great, most pressure I've seen Parra put on in the last 20 min in 2 seasons.
