Former rooster Amos Roberts has had to retire for good as well. Why do people not care about the international game? For me an strong international game is the route for the sport to expand into other places.
Because the game in England is basically a train wreck & the competition here is so full on, the schedule is so packed, players dont want to play more games, the fans tend to switch off after the grand final anyway & wait for cricket season to start The only way i can see some kind of interest between the two hemispheres is to have some kind of champions league, extended world club challenge like 97 but its pie in the sky because there is nowhere to fit it in, the whole competition would have to be rescheduled, shortened etc
This 4 best teams from England and Australia play a round robin or something. Wouldn't happen though. But even the world cup challenge is a wank. The Aussie team in it has always checked out and the players are all hungover haha
Most Under rated and unluckiest player to play the Game i reckon. Carney must be the number 6 unless they go with Hayne for the Origin.
I dont get this constant need for expansion they always go on about. its only big business that wants expansion. The game just about peaked with the tina turner era and was almost perfect. then all the business interests said "you know what we can make a fortune out of this game all we need to do is squeeze a few sydney teams out put one in every capital city then sit back and watch the money roll in" I could honestly write a 200 page essay about this. about how theyve taken away the social aspect of football by banning beer and demolishing all the hills and installing seats everywhere you look. All the nrl wants these days is for you to turn up, sit in your seat. cheer at the appropriate times so it looks good on tv, empty your pockets and go home. this expansion bull**** is all just part of that imo. theyre not about spreading the gospel of rugby league theyre about expanding their profits and market share.
the raiders are done i reckon.... Campese is like Benji or Thurston... without him the whole plan goes to **** Just on injuries, why are they happening so much? 10, 15, 20 years ago you didnt have half the team on the sideline like they have now. Is it overtraining? Not enough science in the training? Too many games? Some of these players are like race horses and so delicate. Campese, Benji, Burgess... they all seem to have spent long periods out.
No Dugan or Thompson for at least a couple of weeks either...they are going to have a rough patch they would need Campese to get them out of and obviously he wont be. Shame...I thought they would be a bit of a darkhorse team this year...not title contention but a pesky top 8 team that might have caused a boilover in the finals..can't see that happening now.
****ing Melbourne Storm always introduce the **** as well Chicken wing tackles etc have ALL originated from the Storm
Yeah poor kid...he was having a good year. I'm a bit worried about Gallen...some reckon he is carrying an injury.
