i know we have hit a bit of form and the raiders are depleted but i am kinda nervous for this game... their forwards and centres/wingers do so much damage up front and out wide even without Campese. On a plus side.... i think Curtis Sironen should be our 5/8th for the rest of the year. The kid slotted into first grade like a natural and i was really impressed with how he handled it. Ayshford has no business outside of the centres, problem is where do you then put him? Lawrence has been average all year and Beau is going great guns. Utai is such a good strike player... he is a forward playing out wide and he makes some really good breaks but problem is he isnt fast enough I hope the tigers dont extend Lote's contract... he needs to retire
I guess with Matai re-signing with Manly he had to go somewhere to get a regular first grade gig...pity though, good young player, would have liked to have kept him.
Is Jennings on the way out from penrith? Any team that can keep him under control will have a weapon on their hands. Souths will probably get him in the future
I hope we dont, at least not until we get a new 5/8. While Sutton has been 5/8 (and this isnt a complete attack on him as he has been alright this season) he has failed to utilize our left centre. GI was starved of quality ball last season, and the 2 seasons before that Colin Best was. Best is now going ok at the Sharks, and GI is a weapon at centre when playing for Queensland or Australia. While ever Sutton is 5/8, spending big money on a left centre will just be a waste of cash. better Farrell stays there and learns his trade a bit more, at least until a new 5/8 comes in next season.
With Penrith's well documented cap problems, and this new signing, it could only really mean that they've found a buyer for Jennings. God I hope it isnt us, at least not anywhere near 600K. 300K max cap money is about the most I'd hope we got him for, if we are even in the running for him that is.
Yeah, its a sign of the times now. With the cap the way it is, player movements mean that a lot of players dont really have an identity like they use to. Its a bit dissapointing in that regard. Joe galavao is still playing really good footy for you blokes. Has been a handy bench player for anfew years now. Good impact and go forward when he hits the field. Big jason king or " king dog" as he is known is my fav. Old school style, got a bit of pace for a big fella too.
You certainly did:yep And heres some of your other pearlers... Hows that working out for ya now? More dribble from the water drinking virgin...hang on, thats teke! wTF man?!
Cowboys at home. 26-18 Warriors at home. 24-22 Titans away, with players out. 14-15 Parramatta, anywhere. 31-30 Penrith away. 30-0 Not a promising showing against clearly weaker teams. I think you should be pissing your pants to be playing Canterbury this week, Melbourne next week...
To be fair, if Inglis was still playing centre, he wouldn't be going that great. Thank God, Mcguire had a clue to put him in there. I was one of the persons saying he needs to lose weight. And I still think he should. He needs to a be a slick demon like he used to be. Not much mind, 5-10 kg.
We've got the dogs this week, and it's gunna be very tough. Not a lot of size on our bench. Would have preferred Ben (I give away as many ridiculous penalties away as possible and also offer nothing in go forward) Lowe been given a spell and bring somene young in like Starling, etc.
Yeah, you can blame Sutton for a lot of that, which is why I'm not keen on getting Jennings. I've always thought GI had a future at fullback or even 5/8. He actually comes in at first reciever a lot now and Merritt switches to fullback during some attacks. His passing game is miles ahead of Suttons as well. I didnt think he'd be going as great as he is now though. Thought the pace and workload of fullback would get to him straight up, but he turned up this season in great physical condition. I guess McGuire's gruelling off season is paying dividends. Last year GI wouldnt have been able to handle fullback, not for the first half anyway, as he was carrying more fat and just didnt have the energy that he does now. I think his weight is fine the way it is. Sure he's not as agile as he once was, but people just naturally get bigger, and whatever he's lost with his agility, he's made up for with his power. He just runs over the top of would be tacklers when returning kicks. If Slater gets injured, Queensland lose nothing at FB if GI takes his place. They'd get more in attack, but Slater has him covered easily for his defensive positioning.
5 wins in a row mate, It doesn't matter how we won them :good And we dont play canterbury this week, we play Canberra, then Melbourne with the magic three missing due to origin... Don't worry about the Tigers mate we will be there come the business end of the season again, worry about your mob And that list isn't too bad, We beat the warriors and Cowboys in consequtive weeks, both were ahead of us on the table, we came from behind against the Titans and won by a pointy, The titans have not lost since that game and beat the Dogs the week after it, Smash Penrith by 30 and Were destroying Prra the same way but fell asleep in the last 10 minutes
Is this thread one of yours from over at the chook pen? :hey Post from Trading Places Well it has eventually happened, something I hoped that I would never see happen in my lifetime................we have officially traded places with $ouff$!! We are Louis Winthorpe III and $ouff$ are Billy Ray, and right now Louis is the bum in the street and Billy Ray is living it up in the Penthouse! What a sad and gut wrenching thought it is! I can not begin to tell you the full extent of just how f**king pi$$ed off I truly am about this whole situation! How the f**k do we allow ourselves to become $ouff$ and watch as they become us period 1996-2004??????????????????? It makes me laugh when I read on here from some misguided fools how Smiffy and ******ed Son have done such a good job with our side and how we have a really good culture. A really good culture, BWAHHHHHHHHH what a f**king joke. Just look at the recent BJ incident, nothing has changed!! The only culture we have is a losing one!! Certain people on here need to stop sugar coating $hit and wake up to our $hitty reality!!!!!! We have gone from the penthouse, a glamorous side consistently playing finals football to the $hithouse, a struggling side usually found down the bottom. It is outrageous that Roosters management have allowed this to continually happen!!!!!!! And please do not kid yourself for a second that this trading places with $ouff$ has not happened. Yet AGAIN we will have to be very careful that we do not end up with the spoon, an all to familiar story over the past 7 years. And now $ouff$ look to be the real deal again, playing finals football for only the second time since 1989, and they look like they will be playing finals football every year while ever Inglis is playing fullback for them and McGuire is coaching them. McGuire has made such a HUGE difference to them, they are now a well coached side unlike us!! If we had any vision we would have signed McGuire instead of $ouff$! We will stay in this predicament while ever Smiffy and ******ed Son are coaching us. We are in such a mess, a very poorly coached side which is ruining our young and older players, that I totally believe that there is only 1 man (other than Des Hasler and most probably McGuire who are tied up for sometime) that can get us out of this dire situation and back to becoming a genuine title contender in a short space of time and that is Craig Bellamy!! Roosters management need to do what ever it takes to get him here and fix their mess!! Just look what happens in no time at all when a $hit side finally gets a great coach, Bulldogs with Hasler and $ouff$ with McGuire. This is what can happen for us with Bellamy!!
