i agree. it should be the first of a few changes.

the second should be 12 players. the expulsion of 1 player further quickens and opens up opportunities, and will result in less players involved in tackles.

thirdly that 1 player missing would provide a glut of players to introduce another team. name your area.....

scrums should become real contests again, to promote specialised skills of forwards. hookers should be able to hook, etc. suddenly haflbacks need to be quick, small and clever. ATM dave taylor could play halfback...and sometimes does..

however;

i get the feeling that blokes like gould (i might be wrong) are happy to see huge skillful men ply their trade and dont give a rats about the demographics, believing that the quality of football will keep the population of supporters interested.
