His last chance was against Groves, and he lost it.

Jesus lol, MW division is white hot and we get this?
Derevenchenko is forced to fight tune ups because he can't find an opponent.

Damn bad move by BJS he should be capitalising on the back of that performance out in Canada but instead Warrens got him fighting a guy who really isn't World Level in his prime let alone now.

Bad move by Team Saunders too even accept this, a lot of other routes they could of very easily gone. Just as I was warming to BJs a little bit even tho I'm a huge Eubank fan. Disappointing.

Will repeat my thoughts from the Brit forum

Murray WAS a good fighter, capable at world level but never likely to win. He's been on the slide for a while and seems even more reluctant to take risks now than he used to. This is a very boring fight.

if I'm counting correctly, that would be the 3rd common opponent to compare Saunders to Golovkin.
Golovkin fought those 3 back to back in 2015, while Saunders fights them back to back in 2017/2018

    _______ Golovkin __ Saunders

    Murray__ TKO11 ____ ????
    Monroe__ TKO 6 ____ UD12
    Lemieux__TKO 8 ____ UD12

So, can Saunders do better this time around?

Just to add to the excitement Terry Like-Watching-Paint-Dry Flanagan will be fighting on the card. Think I'll be sorting my sock drawer on that night.

I like BJS but Murray is a dull easy win for him.

Can't be argued number 2. That you would even say something like that is laughable.

BJS is better than this but can't blame him for taking an easy fight while he waits for GGG - Canelo winner. Feel bad for Jacobs and Derevyanchenko though.

People will slate this but honestly Murray's fall into disrepute is exaggerated. He isn't the same top middleweight contender like he was from 7 until about 3 years ago, but he isn't trash either. Looking at Murray's five blemishes, BJS will still be joining pretty respectable company - and netting a nice little trophy if he manages to pitch a shutout (which nobody has, or even come all that close to, in his three decision losses and one draw) or especially if he can slice & dice his way to a faster stoppage (on towel or cuts or what have you) than Golovkin, although of course it will be mitigated by the fact that GGG fought a more prime Murray.

The guy still routinely chugs along, wrecking all the C+ to B range guys he gets in with in between elites.

I know some people thought he got a gift over Rosado, but even those hopping up & down screaming bloody murder over the scores felt they fought on extremely close terms (just that Gabe deserved the nod in their opinion) - but honestly, what's so bad about being 50-50 with Rosado? If he fought Rosado himself right now, it would be no worse than Saunders' fifth or sixth best W. Monroe, Lemieux, and Murray isn't exactly a terrible run - in fact, probably his best consecutive three-fight run. Not a single Akavov or Bloyer in sight.

Do you seriously think BJS is going to take a hugely tough fight ahead of his career defining fight and payday? He has no reason to and has earned an easy one.

Monroe and then Lemieux back to back is already quite impressive.

I can already see certain loud people overrating Martin Murray, even more so if BJS doesn't look as impressive as he did against the one dimensional DL. :ohno

i dont disagree too much, but to play devils advocate, he went down to argentina, put in a hell of a performance and in the eyes of a lot of people should have come away with the belt. would have been career defining to say the least. instead he is remembered as the nearly man. fine lines and all that.
