I mean Detroit in January. Who the **** wants to go there and freeze their nuts off?
The original choice of neutral venue of New Orleans was much better. At least there is stuff to do there outwith the fight and your nackers can remain in place.

He's with Goossen but yeah same ****. Also Berto with DiBella.

The only up and coming Americans that sell tickets are Ward and Bradley.

Paul Smith sells more tickets than Dawson, Bradley and Berto combined :nut

According to Wiki, Pontiac has a population of 66,000. Yes, there's a 80,000 seater stadium in a town with a population of 66,000.

I occasionally get Shaw and Goosen mixed up times as their BS is so similar. At least Don King looks like he has his tongue in cheek and knows he is spouting crap.

On Shaw, he has a bad mutha in Angulo. I really hope he moves to Golden Boy where he can get his profile raised. There are rumors that he just might :good

Doesn't Angulo have some immigration issues?

Angulo-Kirkland would be a brutal, brutal fight. Both just need to sort their **** out.

Shaw is just a terrible promoter but he takes risks with his fighters which I respect. Lou DiBella was decent a few years ago but seems to be getting lazt and is following the same business plan as Shaw nowadays.

To be fair to Goosen he does some terrible moves like Williams-Cintron in Carson, California but he has done a decent job with Arreola and Andre Ward recently. I rate Main Events they have done an awesome job with Adamek who IMHO is the best promoted fighter of the last 4/5 years and they are doing a decent job with Zab Judah, I really hope they get more fighters.

The likes of Shaw just look at the casino fee or the site fee. They don't think about trying to make guys attractions in their hometowns.

Great news. Shame the atmosphere will be ****.

339 Tickets sold with about 2 weeks to go is an absolute freakin' disgrace. I mean seriously, a fight of this magnitude selling 339 :patsch.

Not even a thousand! Damn, they might aswell find a Garden to do this in.

And then they come up with all these reasons Boxing is dying maybe they should stop being so short sighted. Sure the likes of Bob Arum and Frank Warren have done damage to the Sport but when they are gone Boxing will be worse for it because no other promoter from the US or the UK has has shown that they can build a fighter and progress him correctly and build him into an attraction.

Oh yeah don't get me wrong these guys takes risk and put on good fights but they do not do a great promotion and they don't build fighters. That fight did something like 5,000 with god knows how many freebies given out. I love Lou he seems like a great guy but he hasn't built an attraction in a while and a lot of his fighters are pretty inactive and sell poorly.

More than 15k? I think only Floyd has done that. Pac and Cotto sell really well in the US but they're not American, so does Adamek. Ward and Alexander have being doing more than 10k. And Pavlik has a really good following.

There's this kid coming up, Fernando Guerrero, who is a big attraction. Most of the fans at Williams-Martinez II came for him (he was on the undercard). But yeah, not that many.

UK fighters generally do way better at the gate. Khan did about 4k against Maidana in Vegas. Now imagine Khan-Maidana at the MEN, it'd be pushing 20k.

Andre Ward got 11,000 for the Kessler fight and 7,000 for Green. Arreola is a decent sell in California but not quite double figures. Devon Alexander got something like 10,000 for the Kotelnik fight, But other then those three I cannot think of an American that has gotten more then 5,000 paid attendance for a fight.
