OFFICIAL Breaking news: Hearn calling out team Fury...saying they didn't want the AJ fight

I think from an outside looking in Bob and co never thought AJ/Hearn would be up for it. Then when Matchroom have been seriously up for it they’ve sort have had their eye wiped. They knew about the litigation in the first place but never thought AJ would accept the fight / Hearn would get it done. That’s why there has been constant negative press about the fight from Arum and Frank, they knew it would never get done. Eddie has been left to run around like a dickhead.

 

We all knew about the litigation.

I think Arum and Warren were negative about the fight for other reasons, which were quite clearly stated.

The idea that Arum knew they would lose the litigation doesn't make any sense, does it ?
They would have just said months ago. They tried to get out of the Wilder fight, that is clear. Fury wants the AJ fight for the right money, that is quite clear.

Nobody has actually done anything wrong. The situation seems a lot simpler than people are trying to make it out to be.

 

Agreed. As I've said many times, that doesn't suit the romanticised narrative people love to spread on this site. The main forum is the worst for it, and if you believed everything you read on there you'd live in a world where world class boxers are 'scared' of eachother and actively try to 'duck' one another.. thus losing out on millions of pounds in the process.

 

But Bob Arum made no secret that he was looking to set up a fight on July 24 in Las Vegas, because he didn't think Hearn's Saudi deal was at all solid, and Hearn kept saying he's got a little more work to do.

Bob Arum said this just a few weeks ago. It wasn't being done in secret. None of this was done completely underhand.

But that doesn't mean Arum knew he'd lose the arbitration case to Wilder's side. He was looking to put Fury on in July 24, Las Vegas, against someone, maybe Wilder, whether contractually obliged or not.

Then, a few weeks ago, Fury started to get more information from Hearn on the Saudi deal, and the assurances that money was there, and the date was set for August 14, and his lawyers were giving him good news as they went through and checked all the stuff Hearn was sending them.
And obviously Fury would want $75 million (or a lot more) for AJ in August, rather than a lot less for Wilder in July.

But no one's paying Wilder $20 million step aside, because it's not a good move. Better to beat him up and pay him $15 million or so !

 

This. Arum at every opportunity was saying AJ v Fury was unlikely. He was saying the deal couldn't get done. I genuinely think Arum and Warren didn't believe Hearn would find the money. Arum got screwed by the UAE when he tried to stage a fight in Dubai and I think he thought the Saudis wouldn't come though. Once they did come through it was a problem as they knew Wilder had a legimitate case. Why was it that Hearn was the only guy actually trying to make the fight happen?

Why didn't the network cancel the Fury v Wilder fight in December when they had the opportunity to do so?

 

He delivered everything on his end. If he didn't deliver the fight why did Tyson Fury say AJ vs Fury was a done deal?

 

Just watched the entire video, from the 50m mark onwards, both seem very very excited about this summers fights at Fight Camp and Liverpool in October amongst others.

Gives me hope of some cracking domestic / international match ups.

Arum and Warren clearly knew all along it wasn't happening Fury probably did as well.

 

Will Fury be in good enough shape in eight and a half weeks time? There's videos on Insta today of him messing around in a pool with his family with rolls of fat hanging over his shorts.

 

They could have got out of the Wilder fight months ago but didn't.

And if they weren't sure about how the litigation would go, they should have made that clear to Hearn instead of leading him down the garden path.

Arum is the shits as a promoter. One look at how badly he's handled a guy who, by becoming an undisputed champ at 140, should be a national hero in the UK shows how little he cares about fighters.

 

A thread full of people pretending to be savvy of contractual and legal stipulations, because they have a preconceived ideology that they want to (inaccurately) expound to suit their agenda.

It's this simple.

Fury, Arum, Warren, AJ, Hearn are ALL EQUALLY TO BLAME.

If they arranged this fight and made clear to the public it was on the provision Fury wins the case, no one would say anything.

Fury's side should have been more transparent and Hearn shouldn't have been so ****ing naive. I fail to reconcile the man who wanted proof of funds from the company that put on the 2 biggest PPVs of all time would've just accepted the word of a known liar like Arum at his word on the subject of a pending court case, that Arum despite being a Harvard educated lawyer, would not and could not have known, there is absolutely zero chance of that.

Don't pick sides, just accept that they're all conmen, idiots or naive...or an amalgamation of all 3.

 

So why was Fury saying publicly just a few days ago that the AJ fight was happening?

Dazn are a major threat to PBC and ESPN, don't mind Warren cos he is done. This is bigger than joshua and fury .
Its a massive power/chess move done by all the parties minus Dazn / Matchroom.
Eddie will learn alot from this believe me and eventually end up like them.

My take on it is because that's the fight he really wanted. It's huge money and a big legacy fight too. Perhaps he knew the likely result of the Wilder legal stuff, but thought that by posting the AJ fight being done would create enough public support and momentum that somehow that would pressure the powers that be into being swayed a certain way. Obviously that didn't work.

I think he reckons he's got the beating of both (as I'm sure Joshua does the other way round) but knows that Wilder is an incredibly dangerous fight because of his power. He only needs to be perfect for a second to win the fight.
