Joshua had a $50M offer on the table to fight Wilder in 2018 and all he had to do was say yes and ... of course he didn’t ... even though that was the price he, himself, put on the fight.

Probably why Eddie won’t let AJ talk for himself anymore. You notice the headlines are always “Eddie says AJ says ...” and never AJ speaking for himself anymore.

The Big difference being DAZN offered Wilder $100 million It wasn't AJ sending a message via personal email offering the money as that's not how business is done in the real world.

 

That’s an offer to tie Wilder to DAZN — basically Eddie Hearn — and that’s what he rejected. That’s not $100M to fight AJ, it’s for three fights.

Wilder was betting on himself and wanting to beat Fury in the rematch and then meet AJ on 50/50 terms. He lost to Fury but he wasn’t ducking AJ, he just didn’t want to be locked into a deal with DAZN and Eddie and have his purse with AJ capped.

Wilder’s side put up $50M, half that, for ONE FIGHT and met AJ’s purse demand and he went and hid behind Eddie’s skirt.

 

Which was an offer to put Joshua on BT...

 

One fight, free and clear. He wins or loses and walks away to fight on whatever platform he wanted, for any promoter he chose to deal with, etc. It wasn’t ‘AJ here’s $50M but you’re tied to us for the next 2-3 years.’

 

Team Fury went where Team Humble dared not to go.

Team Humble stated 'it is not about the money ' then declined to fight for arguments about money. Then this huge offer came in and Team Humble did not want any of it.

Credit to Fury for taking on the very dangerous Wilder challenge and having the balls to go for it.

 

So AJ would just say to Sky 'thanks for all your support but this PPV bonanza for Wilder you are not getting a penny but hey don't worry you'll be part of my next fight which won't be as big' lol

That's not forgetting AJ actually had a network deal unlike Wilder.


The latest Warren interview on seconds out is embarrassing.

 

I don't want to get into the whole "X wants no part of Y" silliness that infects this site, but I do think Matchroom (not necessarily Joshua) were very wary of Wilder as they might also be about Usyk.

Wilder has a small profile really, it was even smaller in 2018. They knew there was a serious risk of Joshua being another Wilder highlight reel KO and that would be very difficult for the Joshua brand. It's even worse for them if the fight doesn't do fantastically commercially. I think this is similar to the Usyk situation. It's high risk low reward as Usyk is still a relative unknown to the casual market and has a real chance of beating Joshua.

A loss against Fury, who has a big profile, isn't as bad. Joshua has already been defeated and a huge money spinning fight against the other big UK heavyweight still creates a huge amount of revenue and interest regardless of the result.

I've noticed a bit of chatter about fighting Whyte again. Would be awful. We know Joshua will win, but casuals know Whyte and Matchroom will be able to spin it that Whyte has improved tenfold and it's a very close fight. Would be terrible if that happens instead of Usyk.

 

The "$50m offer" which was an email from Eilder personal email from Wilder that they didn't include any terms or conditions other than 50/50 split but 50m gurantee and when Hearn enquired to see them the terms and conditions and proof of funds they refused to do so until he agreed to a fight (they also only gave 24 hours to agree to this lol). Of course no promoter in wilder is going to agree to that lol. Clear PR gimmick.

I don't necessarily doubt what you say, I don't really care about purses or how many million $ offers are made so don't spend any time looking into it in any depth.. but what are your sources for this? I hope it's not just Hearn's IFL interviews

 

Yes Hearn interviews. Who is the most open and vocal when going into the details of the offers.

Finkell in the past has confirmed when they have received offers too.

Even Dibella said when he got Haymon, Wilder and finkel to sit down witb Skipper to listen to the $100m that they had no real interest in making the AJ fight and basically sacked him on the spot for making the meeting with DAZN.

Wilder even put his foot in mouth whilst giving a interview saying Fury should give him a rematch due to:

- Wilder giving Fury a chance in their first fight and hi not deserving the chance but felt sorry for him.

- Also stated he could accepted the AJ offer of which he confirmed he would if earned more.

 

Not the best source then as everything will be spun in favour of his, Joshua and Matchroom's agenda.

 

Finkel have never denied the points Hearn raised regarding the offer but stated it was a legit offer (although the points Hwarn mentioned seem to make it more PR gimmick).

Certainly with the other well reported offers plus what Dibella said seems to suggest certain people in Wilders team have no real interest in ever making the fight.

 

That's fine, but Hearn interviews remain your only real source then. Not a great source, especially when it is discussing contractual terms. We don't know the small print of those offers and it'll always be spun in favour of his agenda. Other people 'not denying it' doesn't necessarily mean much.

If you want to believe it then ok, but you should state that this is your primary source if you're going to post figures so that others can choose whether to take it seriously or not.

 

Too many on here let their hate of Hearn blind then from the obvious truths in front of their faces! Wilder offered 50 Mill!! Hahahaha
