:yep Some sportsbooks had him starting at +500, so yeah a bunch of money was made *cough*. Maidana made *cough* a bunch of people money too. :deal
Cotto looking out for his own interests first. The Canelo fight will always be there and this is the best opportunity he'll ever have to get a title in a fourth weight class. Plus, Cotto can force Martinez to fight him when and where he wants. He can't do that with Canelo. It's Strictly Business. Excuse the EPMD reference. Oh yes, and... :bowdown EPMD
Martinez demolishes him, Cotto is a welterweight fighting a division too high, he gets beat down by the likes of Kirkland, Lara, Angulo & Canelo never mind the king of the middleweights.
If Martinez is healthy, he'll wear down Cotto, no doubt. Cotto has no business at 154, he's too short. Martinez would have a HUGE reach advantage, he is extra-long armed, while Cotto is short; Really, with a healthy Martinez this is almost a mismatch. He thrashed a light heavyweight, go figure what he'd do to a shot welter like Cotto. And i like them both.
Damn but this is it ^. Would pick 2010-12 Maravilla without a thought. But if Sergios reflexes and speed have slipped, even a little, Cotto could make life really, really hot. The weight is an issue too, Sergio ain't actually a much bigger guy, but a higher weight would favour him. Damn - I actually love this fight - two true and proven warriors and gentlemen of the sport facing off...but I'll be annoyed as hell if Cotto wins at a catchweight and somehow gets crowned MW lineal champ.
Hope Cotto wins then move down to fight Canelo. Middleweight is no business for Cotto, the only fight that He could get a chance is with Martinez because He is no big middleweight and He is past his prime like Cotto. Hope Cotto stay away of middleweight big fighter, but knowing His mentality He will end up fighting Golovkin if He manage to win.
That or he will end up fighting Floyd for the MW belt an opportunity that FMJr. will not pass and what Cotto wants!
Buckadcious you dont know **** about boxing... Martinez is used to fighting 6 feet+ guys that outweight him by 20 pounds, Cotto is a midget
I don't see what advantages Cotto has over Martinez, other than technique and experience. Martinez holds every single physical advantage, including size. This providing that he is able to rebound to a representative version of his old self.
Uhg I can see it now - passing around the "MW lineal" at catch weight...:-( Well the WBC can do w/e they want, but if that happens I will just consider lineal vacant the same as if Sergio retired.
