Cotto's got a lot of you guys fooled, he fought 1 decent light-middleweight & got beat convincingly, all the other guys he's fought at 154 have been made to order.
Even Roach wanted him to move back down to 147, because he knows when he steps it up against Lara, Canelo, Kirklan or Andrade he gets his ass handed to him.
How's he gonna cope with the extra poundage, size, strength, movement, speed & power of Martinez?
Marinez beat Pavlik, Williams, Chavez Jr, Murray, Macklin & Barker. Cotto would never set dare take those guys on but he beats Martinez, how?

The only was Cotto wins if Martinez hasn't recovered from the injuries, even a shot Martinez beats a shot Cotto.

Actually, after the Rodriguez fight Roach said they want Martinez next. The next fight after that on Roach's radar is a Mayweather rematch.

 

You can make it vacant in your fantasy world but no matter what weight when the champ loses he loses. just because its 1 or 2 extra pounds doesnt mean thats gonna help u dodge punches? fighters fight the fights and there been plenty of people that have weigh under limits and won titles. do u think everybody weights exactly 147,154,160. Mayweather has not got close to 154, barely 150 and still won the title.

 

Like I said - WBC can do w/e. WBC can sanction their belt in whatever fight they want.

But its not a MW lineage unless its fought at MW. Lineal title is supposed to denote "the man" at a certain weight. But to be "the man" at a certain weight, it should go without saying that you have to be a legit competitor at that weight.

Sure a couple pounds can be excused for initial fight - if Cotto beats Martinez at say 158 then he can be recognized MW lineal... with the caveat that his next fights are at 160. If Cotto wins at 158, then fights FMJ at 152 and loses thats not going to make FMJ "the man" at MW.

If MW champ stops fighting at MW, the lineal is effectively vacant until someone does enough to establish a new lineage.

 

SO, whats fun about Cotto getting rocked in 11???
