No. Derevyanchenko won't rush anything. He likes to start with a probing approach, in fact.

Neither of these guys are spring chickens, this fight is going to be a war of attrition .............last man standing.
I would slightly favor Derevyanchenko better skills overall (chin check needed ).
Miracle man has experience and good fundamentals and has been in with the best in the game and I know his chin is solid.
who has the most heart is to be determined. Great match up!

Derevy looked great against Johnson; although I think Tureano was a dead man coming in, he just looked wrong from the opening bell. It's a good fight. I favor Jacobs by decision, but Sergei has a solid chance. Danny's achilles heel is is feet. He looks like the slick, skinny, muscular black dude, but he just doesn't move well. It was apparent against Sergio Mora and Pirog. If Derevy moves and moves and takes it into the later rounds he has a good chance.

Oh no, not that the sparring is one sided, but the point is that Jacobs is the favorite and the house fighter here. He has the leverage, Derevy is just a talented guy with no fan base, no one wants to fight a talented experienced fighter who brings no money, so all of the big guys would just dodge him, so he was going to take this fight no matter what happened in sparring.

Jacobs though is a name. He has an HBO contract and money behind him and he could get another big fight, therefore if Derevy was kicking his ass in sparring, he would just use the same trainer/manager meme as an excuse.

I'm glad the fight is getting made, but what sucks in a way is that the deck will be stacked in DJ's favor.

They both had the same trainer but since Rozier will be in Jacobs corner and has also been training SD for a while, he'll know everything DJ needs to know to beat him. I hope it doesn't bother SD too much.

I'm surprised that this fight is happening. Not because I think either man is afraid of the other but because of their relationship with the trainer. This is interesting. Another interesting thing is that Jacobs has less to gain here than Derevyanchenko.

I'm leaning towards Jacobs because of size. Derevyanchenko may be the better technician but with them sparring with each other so frequently that skill gap shouldn't be as wide and the one thing you can never take away is the size advantage. If Jacobs fight this correctly he can make Sergiy have a VERY tough time getting anything going here. Hopefully this will be a good fight. Neither man can afford to lose which on paper makes out for a fan friendly competitive bout.

Yeah this is also something on my mind. Another big reason I'm picking Jacobs by UD here.

Really? Interesting. Where are you going with that one? What is making you pick Sergiy right now?

Jacobs simply isn't that good he looked like crap in his last fight. Sergiy is more skilled imo from what I've seen of him he will outbox Jacobs and get the win.

Fair assessment. Jacobs is pretty overrated I think. People base his entire perception off of his fight with Golovkin but all he really did was make it competitive. He didn't look especially great before or after that fight and I don't think being competitive against anyone is enough to solidify your spot as a certified killer. Some people just are just built in a way that makes them a tough (competitive) out for anyone but I've seen times where that doesn't mean that they can actually WIN these fights.

I don't think Jacobs looked especially poor vs Sulecki or Arias though. Sulecki is better than everyone gave him credit for. He's top 5 JMW and a natural MW. Good technical abilities and although he's from a smaller weightclass he isn't THAT much smaller than Jacobs. Arias fought in a way that is pretty much impossible to look good against and get anything done.

This fight is going to tell me a lot about who both Jacobs and Derevyanchenko truly are. Ugh, I just realized that whoever loses will be called "exposed". That's going to suck.
