Joyce isn't fast like Wilder and I doubt he just blitzs Stiverne out there (like Wilder did in the rematch). I'd probably take out the 1st and 2nd rounds if I were going to bet it. I think Joyce will get a stoppage in the 3rd-6th round.
List: 2.2u Omar Douglas DNB +850 2.5 Summers DNB +124 1u Rosario dec +115 0.82u Carlos Monroe dec +600 0.1u each on Eubanks R1 +8900, R2 +7900, R3 +6900. More to come
Douglas isn't good at all he's tough and has some power but slow and predictable, but Selby could be beaten again he could have taken the loss badly but he is a level above doiglas.
I like Eubanks to win but I'm not sure he is going to stop Degale early. But I do like them odds, I might tail you. I'm not sure about the other picks, I didn't have time to research although I did BoxRec a couple of names. Summer's hair should definitely be on the P4P list.
I think Stiverne is experienced enough to not get clipped that early, although I could be wrong. Joyce is heavy-handed but he isn't quick like Wilder.
Stiverne likes to lay on the ropes, which invalidates Joyce's foot speed and makes him a stationary target. I think that's what he's going to regress too, as he always does, and I don't think Joyce is going to let him off the hook. I think it's going to be a one sided slaughter between a guy from last generation and a fresh up and coming heavyweight force.
I agree, but I expect Joyce to take one round to get going and Stiverne is tough enough to last one round if he wants to IMHO. I'd go Rounds 2, 3 and 4 if it were me … (Now just watch Joyce blast him out in 1 haha)
I also thought that Wilder KO1 Stiverne was partly due to Stiverne feeling he had no chance at the time. He'd had 12 rounds before and merely succeeded in getting beaten up, why not stay down the first time he got hit properly this time?
Douglas should be evens if it wasn't the UK factor. I think he can clip and hurt Selby with the left hook that Hunter put him down with. The same hook that Warrington has hurt him with multiple times. Selby is going up two weight-classes against a guy with legit power that put Fortuna down and arguably beat Abreu. Selby has never fought before someone with Douglas' power. And I certainly do not agree that Douglas is slow. Regarding Joyce, I think people are getting a bit ahead here. I do not rate Joyce so high as many of you do. Only gamble here is Stiverne's condition. If Stiverne that fought Wilder 2 comes up, sure, it might be an easy night for Joyce. But if Stiverne that beat Arreola twice and went to distance with Wilder shows up, I think Joyce is ****ed. Joyce has been koed twice in amateurs in round 1 with head gear and everything, one of them being Sergey Kuzmin who just went to war with David Price. If Stiverne still has some pop in his punches Joyce may crumble. Again, everything depends on Stiverne's shape. If he looks ok tomorrow I might take a bet on him at stupid odds. Also, added 3u on Mendez +188 DNB. I think he is better than Alamo in every department, he should have won the decision against Garcia's prospect, Navarro and fought a good fight against Fredrickson. Alamo looks like a complete amateur, wings every shot and leaves his chin open so much. He only fought complete bums and Mendez is a huge step-up. Alamo is the promoted fighter, but I do not think even that guarantees a decision for him in this match-up. Mendez fights great on the inside and I think he will expose Alamo. @JMotrain I took those very long shot bets in case Degale is shot. He has been through many wars and I feel like Eubanks R1-3 yielding +2500 is quite generous for a small-sized bet.
My choice for the weekend. Stiverne +1800 0.35u Douglas +700 1.25u Mendez +200 2u Mendez +205 1u Rosario dec +110 1.5u Limov +220 1u Summers +155 1u
It's definitely possible CEJ stops him early, especially since Degale might be completely shot. But I just don't see Eubank as a one punch type of KO artist and Degale has never been stopped before. I think if there is a stoppage, it is more of an accumulation type of stoppage late in the fight. Good luck though, I'll definitely be tailing a couple of your picks this weekend.
Final list 4u Mendez +188 2.2u Omar Douglas DNB +850 2.5 Summers DNB +124 1u Rosario dec +115 0.82u Carlos Monroe dec +600 0.1u each on Eubanks R1 +8900, R2 +7900, R3 +6900. 0.15u Summers KO +1300 0.35u Douglas 10-12 or DEC +1100
I re-watched Stiverne-Wilder I and his fights with Arreola. If he had come in shape for this fight, I think he had a shot against JJ. JJ is slow as hell, his punches look like he is boxing underwater. But Stiverne couldn't move at all against Wilder in the rematch, he was actually knocked down with his gloves by his face (first KD). Now he is 20 pounds heavier, so I give him virtually no shot. He's showing up for a paycheck before he retires. I agree with Russell, I think the first heavy shot JJ lands on Stiverne will be all she wrote.
