Well the don't call it prizefighting for nothing. If he's got his number, he might as well cash in on that massive payday.

It's very weak - I would love to delete all these idiots on here with their PacRoid and RoidQuez and speak with some common sense.

Belts don't mean anything, Marquez knows beating Bradley will not do that much for his legacy, it's an extra stat but his legacy has been defined by his fights with Pacquiao, Mayweather, Barrera and others at 130/135

Everyone knows Marquez' standing. So here's the deal - he beat Pacquiao, I think it's clear he's in it for the money as much as he goes on about the belt. Like the poster above says, beating PAcquiao he's won the lottery, if he cares about legacy so much he would just retire right now, he's 39/40 for crying out loud.

So it's a fair assumption money is a motivator. 2 things are going on here:

    - Marquez is playing hard to get. He's hoping they raise the bounty even more to get their man. He's testing to see how much Pacquiao wants him, he's not stupid. He knows he won't get Bradley ahead of Pacquiao.

    - Look at my past posts, I told Pacquiao fasn to stop with the silliness about Marquez and steroids, he deserves the benefit of the doubt for a great victory. But with Arum stating the 5th would have RBT in January, you have to wonder. MArquez is in it for money, Bradley is a 50-50 purse, $1m-$2m he makes max. Pacquiao's LOWEST offer for Marquez is $10m...

I would love posters to show some objectivity and admit it just doesn't make much sense if the first point isn't true and he plainly doesn't want the 5th fight

Exactly! I'd watch a fifth fight, but Bradley vs Marquez would be a more intriguing fight! :) Maybe not as much money, but definitely of more importance. Marquez has been boxing his whole life. You know darn well he wants to be considered one of the best Mexican boxers of all time!

Well at least hes not traveling to Indonesia again to face Chris John.

Smart fighter inside the ring but no business sense at all i guess steroids dont help with everything.

Either £$ decide or RBT decides - I can tell you for sure that the deciding factor isn't the need for a welterweight belt, especially when Marquez already knows he has NO chance of fighting Bradley next

I personally am not accusing him and didn't at the time of the KO - but knowing he won't get a title shot against Bradley, Malignaggi, Mayweather or Alexander anytime soon (if he turns Pacquiao down, it's Pac v Bradley) then it is a question worth asking - why would JMM turn down almost double his previous career high and take another fight that will pay him 1/10th as much?

It IS a valid question to ask - I certainly don't think Marquez is "scared" - that's one thing no one can accuse him of - maybe he's "scared" of losing his current status, that's one possibility...and there are other possibilities as well

Marquez knows he'll probably get knocked out. If he was confident he'd beat Pacquiao again he'd be all over that $$$

In Juan's eyes he is 4-0 Vs. Pacquiao with the definitive KTFO6 as the encore.
(Marquez ain't the only one who thinks this either)
