well the games are well on the way and the whipped cream of the crop have come to fruition.
i was annoyed out how all the othe rolympic threads are about specific points I.E. ugas's china chin (rather fitting, due to it being in beijing), "Wow Andrade won his last fight" etc etc.
and as we are the foremost forum of boxing. i feel it should be fitting that we have an official thread.
i will add information and links about the boxing and maybe taekwondo if i have the time. judo has practically finished so psssh:blood.
well people at wikipedia have joined forces with nbc,bbc and the olympic commitee to create a decent log of fights.

Cuba - we all know about the cuban amatuer system and this year seems to be no different. all ice cubans got through the first set at this point. at lightweight look for ugas.

China - if you didnt know, the home nation recieves 9 places in the qualifiers. why did they need them? the chinese have a great amatuer camp that havent really been spotlighted, very reminiscent of the cuban gold rush in 92. gu yu and zou shiming i feel will medal highest in the team...

Great Britian - good start to the year. sadly lost it's lightwieght gavin. who was supposed to have a decent draw...sadly the whole team have been put up against the toughest of there division price and degale have world champs to face and yafai seems to be in very deep water against laffita (a cuban).

Ghana - my upset team. now i know they have never won gold and havent got a bright amatuer system. but the Ghanaian team the "black star bombers" or "black bombers" have had a pretty good year and look to pull an upset in the rankings.they entered 6 boxers of the 9 sportsman in overall.they got off to a bad start. but dzanie and kotey where way out of there league. and scraped by in the qulifiers.kotey was the one to get stopped by a double left hook to the ribs that doubled him over.but the samir brothers especially bastir samir will give a good account of themselves i feel this year.

Wow, that Khatsyhau-Gojan bout sounds like a white-hot cauldron of fury not seen since Roman Greenberg fought Julius Francis!

4 out of 5 for the Brit boxers so far. Price in the heavys tomorrow but he's got a tough opponent...not sure who our light-heavy has drawn.

Have they confirmed that yet? It's about time.

Can't believe Rau'shee lost. What a bonehead move he pulled. Did the same thing against Rigondeaux.

Price in action today, gonna be a very tough one.
If he pulls the upset though, the competition's gonna open up for him...just got to beat the guy who's the European champ and world #1 first :D

Wilder was a breath of fresh air for the US team. Hopefully yanez can do business later.
