James Degale beat Emilio Correa 16:14 for the Gold medal, impressive stuff from a fighter no one even gave a chance of making the finals.

The Cuban should have been DQ'd in the first round for biting Degale.

    DEgale completely outfought him

And of the five fights he won to take Gold he had to defeat, the Cuban, the American, the Olympic Champion from the weight below, and the Irishman who had beaten him 4 times out of 5. Terrific performance:happy

well done to degale,**** quality fight with far too much holding on both fighters part, you could have made a case for both of them being dq'd!

on another note,i don't think degale will make a very good pro,he seems every so slightly too cocky in his ability and hasn't got quick enough hands for his style, his footwork is lovely but an intelligent pressure fighter who puts him against the ropes could seriously have his way with him.

but once again congrats to degale, out of nothing he is now olympic champion!

Yep, he had a tough draw which makes it all the more impressive. Good luck to him in the future.

If you watch the fight you can see Cuban landing three punch combinations and not getting a single point. Meanwhile Degale was clinching for his life.

the guy bit degale    he should of been disqulified.:nut and now yuor telling me he was robbed.

it was not a popularity contest becuase correa would of clearly won it.
the cuban walked in with his arms in the air...:patsch if you didnt know that is tactic to get the other man done for holding which degale clearly wasnt doing (or doing enough to get a point or 2 taken off)
and you cant push becuase thats a point deduction aswell.

it was the cubans fault for jabbing in then combing and then gettign stuck on th einside...where is joe cortez when you need him?

and degale hurt correa in the 3rd so dont give me the point that these were pit pat punches.

Screw NBC for not showing the heavyweight final.
