Official Protest Bernard Hopkins VS Kelly Pavlik Thread

Excuse the pedantry, but BHop was dropped twice against Mercado in Ecuador.

However I agree generally with you. I think this fight will be a trainwreck.

I did not think the Hopkins Calzaghe fight was boring. I was very tense and getting mad at Hopkins for his style - and at the end of the fight I got really excited because I was smelling a ko win for Calzaghe. So the Pavlik fight will have similar appeal. Is Hopkins age finally kicking in? How will Pavlik react to the "dirty" style? Will he be able to knock Hopkins out? For me this is a fight with a lot of question marks - so it will be interesting.

Agreed. B-Hop should retire, and Pavlik should fight Williams while Calzaghe fights RJJ, then Pavlik v Calzaghe. Hopkins is too stubborn tho, he wont retire til he gets stopped. Pavlik will do it.

 

This fight just doesn't make much sense right now. Hopkins is so old, coming off a loss, and he's been a light heavyweight for the past 2 years.

I'd much rather see Pavlik just start clearing out the middleweight division. A fight with Sturm would have been much better (I think he's got a fight but his name never even came up as a possible opponent), or anyone else in the middleweight top 10. Winky would have been OK but it's obvious he didnt want the fight (nor did he do anything to remotely deserve it, the guy hasn't fought in a year and his last fight was a loss).

 

I didn't know Hopkins was incapable of making his own decisions. It's a good thing he's got you looking out for him.

 

people hear talk like hopkins is going to lose, he beat palvik with ease, he lost to all time great in joe, an palvik is no all time great, if i was palvik i would not take this fight. I thought hopkins lost every round but two against joe, i believe he would of been stopped if was not for the low blow,,,but once again palvik is no joe......hopkins is going to box palvik, an maybe late stop palivk,,,taylor that fought hopkins was not the same taylor that fought palvik. sence the spinks fight it seemed as thou taylor dosn't even want to box any more, that why his trainer left him................hopkins got nothing to worry about

 

the other thing about this fight, why the ****ing catch weight? why not just fight at super middleweight? it's obvious that both of them could make the weight...

 

Then you'll take pleasure in seeing him knocked out!!
