Official Rd by Rd Tonight - D.Hopkins vs Holt

Today I caught the Wlad fight during the afternoon and the Holt-Hop, Did not enjoy either of them very much, especially the latter. :nono

 

I gave Hopkins the 6th, but as far as I remember, I had the same card as you other than that (didnt really keep a running tally of rounds, but I know I had it even after 6). Not really sure what blowout the announcers were watching?

 

I gave Hopkins 4, 5, and 11. 6 and 12 were close, if you swing them it changes from my 117-111 to your 115-113. I'm pretty much the only one that did a true round by round, and I even timestamped the significant events in each round, so you can see justifications for all my scoring. :good

Here's the sixth:
Nasty lead hook from Holt twenty seconds in after Hopkins landed a couple early on. Holt not waiting for opportunities now, coming in firing. They clinch four times in thirty seconds. Holt throws two-fisted haymakers at Hopkins, lands the second one near the kidneys. Another clinch, Holt smacks Hopkins under the elbow. They come together again, good infighting from Holt. They create separation and simultaneously land thudding hooks, Holt's to the body. Holt marches into Hopkins at an angle and slips an uppercut into his chest. His round.

And the twelfth:
Sounds like the crowd chanting for Dhop first minute of twelfth.

Holt keeps coming forward firing but they inevitably clinch. Comes in with a shoeshine and lands a few, clinch. Seems that he's tired of that strategy, as now he comes forward with some nice tight jabs, in and out. Huge exchange from Holt landing downstairs and upstairs with 20 to go. Both flurry and clinch for last ten.

It wasn't a boring fight but it wasn't the most exciting fight either. I mean how could Holt have a fight as exciting as his battles with Torres?

 

sues2nd I don't suppose you remember what edged the sixth and twelfth in Hopkins' favor on your card? I'm curious to see what I may have overlooked.

 

Speaking of the Torres battles.... in one of the early rounds, Holt slammed the crown of his head into Hopkin's forehead. I was thinking here we go again, and was beginning to think it was part of his arsenal, but he didnt really do it again the rest of the night.

I scored the fight 8-4. 7-5 is being generous on D-Hop's part.

I too thought it was intriguing how the nephew of Bernard Hopkins had a problem with someone else throwing headbutts.
