Trying to find out. Was the Official result an 8th round Tko? Or a 9th?
    Controversy in a boxing pool.

It was at the 8th. They stopped the fight without the 9th round clock being start up yet.

The time limit for the 9th round hasn't started. Meaning even when theyre at a break its still considered as the previous round. They stopped the fight after the 8th round without the 9th round ticking. So its considered as TKO 8 win.

That was the meekest corner retirement I've ever seen, too.

Usually when they ask if you want to keep going, if the fighter's feeling "no mas", they'll just say "no mas" as quickly as possible to get it over with. This took almost the entire in-between round minute...another few moments and they'd have had to clear out and ring the bell and let him quit himself on his feet! He didn't even answer clearly when he finally did. Nacho kept saying "Look, how about I call it off?" and Oscar wouldn't say one way or the other; just kept sighing and mumbling under his breath. I think the translator was only able to interpret his answer based on his imperceptible nod, not any actual audible speech. Not only the fight, but the spirit was literally beaten out of him. He didn't have enough manhood left to look Beristain in the eye and say "yes call it off".
