The plan was always for each to have one stay-busy fight and then meet in the fall. I've gone to bat for Alvarez before, and I'll continue to give him the benefit of the doubt.

I don't like this fight, but I won't lose respect unless he ducks out of the fall fight with GGG.

Basically, he's delaying his career ending beating as long as he can.

Canelo doesn't have the stamina to fight like Maidana, if he's going to be aggressive it needs to be intelligent, controlled pressure.

    Cash out money for Khan.

Be funny if he won and they made him fight GGG though. Lol.

A business decision in what way?

This won't be PPV anywhere but the US. The only PPV fight for Khan in the UK is Brook - which he knows will still be available after he's brutalised by Canelo.

Khan is a funny one. He's somehow managed to con the entire US into believing he's a PPV star with lots of fans in the UK. Whilst most people know who he is, nobody really likes him - which means we don't pay for his fights. Unlike the US, the UK doesn't pay to watch fights of people we hate. Plus, PPV isn't really a big thing in the UK either.

I don't think this Canelo v Khan PPV sells a great deal more than a standard Canelo fight.

Big name boxers only fight like 2 times a year so it's natural to be more critical when they take on overmatched opponents. I don't think we should have our expectations too low as fans. This isn't like Chavez or Toney in their primes when they fought like 10 times a year, mismatches in stay-busy fights are obviously more common when you fight that often.

Canelo has a good track record, so he deserves credit when he faces tough opposition and criticism for this fight or when he is supposed to be the middleweight champion of the world but will only defend at 155. I just take it on a fight-by-fight basis, and I try not to look at what other fighters may have done to defend another's poor opposition or stance on weight.

Since this is the exception rather than the norm for Canelo, then he doesn't get criticized much. No need to. If someone like GGG consistently fights soft opposition, then well, criticize him whenever he fights a softie. Which is rather often.

Is Khan really with Al Gaymon? A lot of people are saying this shows that Gaymon fighters can negotiation with GBP. I just remember Arum saying that Khan has a different contract with Gaymon compared to other fighters. Anyone know for sure?

They opened up a new MW division at 155, and GGG is not invited. To become a champion in this new division, there are only 3 requirements:

    1) Beat up a crippled middleweight
    2) Beat up a welterweight
    3) Beat up a super welterweight

At that point you become undisputed middleweight champion.

I don't even see how they are gonna market this fight, Khan is not a big money name (if he was, Floyd would've fought him). And then he's coming up when he wasn't even impressive at welter. WBC is corrupt as ****.

It's out of Canelo's nature to fight like Maidana. But he probably won't have to. Khan isn't exactly some defensive whiz. Eventually Canelo will be able to counter Khan, or simply catch Khan making a mistake.

This came as a huge shock for me... What is Khan thinking taking such a risky dangerous fight?

The bookies apparently have Khan down as a 3-1 underdog, but he looks more like a 10-1 underdog to me. He'd need to pull off some kind of Buster Douglas style miracle to win this.
