This is the thread where you get to bump your post after the fight and show people that you knew exactly how everything was gonna play out. Pick a winner and explain how you think it's gonna go down.

I think Canelo will be surprised by GGG's jab and punch variation, which will make it hard to land counters without getting hit. Also find that although Canelo has better defense he still takes shots and he's not gonna be ready for GGG's power. Eventually a big left hook lands and Canelo is stopped. GGG 10th round TKO, probably down on cards or even when it happens.

GGG has struggled with guys who move well and who get off first with explosive shots, and I don't see this being Canelo at all. Although he can throw explosive combinations he is more reactive than proactive. The caveat is that GGG has never fought an elite counterpuncher so there's a bit of an unknown.

I say GGG 9th round KO.

However, if Canelo has significantly improved or if Golovkin has significantly deteriorated then anything could happen.

I personally believe Golovkin's two "bad" outings against Brook and Jacobs are not indicative that he's going down the tubes at all. I think that he came to blast Brook out and turned it into a sloppy war by design. I also think Jacobs is much, much better than people gave him credit for before the fight. Jacobs imho lights Canelo up.

GGG by stoppage, perhaps in round 9.

If Golovkin fights at his best, I think it will depend on whether Canelo can avoid Golovkin's jab enough. With his head movement and reflexes there is a chance this could happen. If so, I see Canelo being able to counter Golovkin's power punches better and building at least 4 rounds. Even if he was able to do this, I see Canelo fading late due to his stamina not being great and Golovkin winning most of the late rounds. If Canelo can neutralise the jab I can see him going the distance and winning on points, even if he only wins say 4 rounds because he is a big cash cow.

However, I don't think Canelo has good enough feet to evade Golovkin's jab forever, and because of this, GGG's power punches combined with the jab will imo break him down and stop him later on, perhaps in round 9.

    GGG late rounds accumulation stoppage.

2 years ago and I'd of said GGG and fairly easy but he's been slipping, Canelo is still improving.

You can make an argument for either fighter winning, Canelo will have his moments, fluid combination punching and I'm a fan of both but I think Golovkin wins in a very tough exciting fight.

GGG by stoppage, likely a TKO, ref jumps in or the towel does.

Rounds 1 and 2 are general feeler rounds as both fighters eventually settle in to the routine we are all expecing of GGG walking Canelo down and the Mexican looking to counter off the back foot. Tough rounds to score so would sway in the Mexicans favour.

Rounds 3 and 4 will see this routine settling down, GGG will be following Canelo around the ring, pushing him back with an effective jab. Canelo will do some good work off the back foot throwing some eye catching counters and have a good argument for winning these rounds on the cards too.

At this point in the fight Canelo will of taken all 4 rounds on the scorecards. The commentators will be getting giddy and this forum will be going into meltdown. Well calm down. At this point Canelo will be realising he has not discouraged Golovkin at all with some good stinging shots whilst at the same time he seems to feel like he is getting beaten up by short hooks and jabs, he is hurting and this fight cant continue like this even though he is technically winning.

Rounds 5 onwards Canelo changes and becomes a bit more defensive, not as willing to throw his counters at every oppertunity, backs up more, covers up more and looks to just get out of the way more. Golovkin sees it instantly and the pressure ramps up more and throwing more with less and less coming back. The fight becomes more and more one sided until Canelo is pretty much doing nothing more than taking a beating. Eventually the ref or his corner will end the punishment if a body shot doesnt do it 1st.

This will have a feel of the Wade fight.
