Following the shambles that was Haye v Harrison last weekend, fight fans can now look ahead to fight of the year between the super middleweight world champion Robert Stieglitz and top ranked contender Enrique Ornelas. WBO World Champion Stieglitz, from Germany, boasts an impressive record of 38-2 (23 KO) and has racked up wins against Balzsay, Acosta and Gutknecht in his reign as the world's number 1 at 168 lbs, a division and title once ruled and dominated by Joe Calzaghe. But he faces what is probably his toughest test yet against WBO ranked number 9, the hardened Mexican Enrique Ornelas who took the legendary Bernard Hopkins 12 rounds just one year ago. Since then he came back with a convincing 4th round knockout against Julius Fogle to earn himself a shot at the championship of the world. Fight fans in Germany genuinely cannot wait for this one and the hype has already started as Ornelas furiously ripped up the official fight poster, which only pictured Stieglitz during the pre-fight press conference. “I didn’t become a world champion by chance,” warned Stieglitz. “I know what I must do in the ring and I’ll remain a world champion.” The German is fast becoming one of the best boxers in the world and his promoter Ulf Steinforth stated “Robert Stieglitz is the boxer who delivers the most attractive fights in Germany these days. This will be an exciting and worth seeing premiere on SAT.1.” Boxing nerds can watch the fight live on PrimetimeLive (sky channel 480) for the bargain price of £19.95 bundled with Carl Froch's fight with Arthur Abraham next weekend. Who R U Picking? I'm expecting Buncey to be hyping this through the roof on Thursday's BBC London Boxing Hour! PS I am only having a laugh for anyone who gets funny about this and no offence to Buncey cuz he has had a wee bit too much stick on here recently :deal
:good It's gonna be pretty entertaining, though. Stieglitz and Ornelas both like to brawl, I cannot imagine this to be a dull affair at all. Would never pay a penny to watch it of course, luckily it's free on SAT.1 (plus all undercard fights on the ran.de live stream) just like Abraham vs Froch will be on ARD over here.
Yeah that is true. Even though I joke a bit it is a decent matchup on paper. Gotta agree with TFFP on a Stieglitz decision being pretty likely.
