    English translation from Primera Hora:

Megafight Headquarters for Pacquiao / Mayweather

    Thursday, November 26th, 2009
    Carlos Gonzalez / Primera Hora

Floyd Mayweather to receive 60 percent of revenue generated per fight against Manny Pacquiao.

Representatives of Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather, Jr., suggests that the prominent boxers will meet on Saturday, May 1, 2010 if they complete the contractual arrangements.

One of the major pitfalls that both sides must overcome is to determine what percent of revenue each will get. It outlines that will be the most lucrative boxing event in history.

In fact, ever increasing list of places you wish to provide the megafight.

Among the cities that Arum has in its list are Las Vegas, New York, New Orleans and Irvin, Texas.

"Many places are concerned," said Bob Arum, Pacquiao's promoter, during a press conference on Tuesday.

"But, for tax purposes, should be in Nevada or Texas, where there is no estate tax. That is why in all likelihood would not be in New York or New Jersey, "said Arum.

As for New Orleans, the promoter said the Metrodome would be ideal because it has room for 70,000 people.

"I've spoken with Governor Bobby Jindal on the possibility of nullifying the Louisiana tax provided that the fight is in New Orleans. But it shouldnt be a reality to have any chance to bring the event to the city, "he said.

Another possibility is a proposal put forward by Wynn to build a temporary outdoor stadium with a capacity for 30,000 seats.

Even hospice officials have already drawn a plan of action and are establishing a budget to determine the feasibility of the project.

The other alternatives are the Thomas and Mack Center, which can hold just over 20,000 people, and Sam Boyd Stadium with a capacity of 45,000. Both are located in Las Vegas.

The MGM Grand will not be considered because it only has space for 16,500 people, very small for a fight of this magnitude.

The negotiations for a possible $80 million super fight between pound-for-pound king Manny Pacquiao and former No.1 Floyd Mayweather Jr have been stalled and its not because Top RBank promoter Bob Arum and Golden Boy Promotions CEO Richard Schaefer have hit a snag. Its all because of Pacquiao’s reported firm decision to run for a congressional seat in Sarangani.

After a series of frantic overseas telephone conversations with Pacquiao’s lawyer Franklin “Jeng” G acal Arum told us he was informed that Pacquiao had decided to run for Congress and that the newspaper photos and reports quoting Pacquiao as asking for support for the Party List group Pwersa ng Bayaning Atleta were supposedly misleading. The impression that he would vie for a seat as a representatve of the PBA party list group were reportedly incorrect.

Pacquiao’s longtime friend and sometime confidant Rex “Wakee” Salud told us that Pacquiao would run in Sarangani and that there is a good chance he would run unopposed, banking on an apparent effort by President Arroyo to appeal to the well-established Chiongbian family to withdraw from the congressional race.

Salud said he was 99 percent sure that Pacquiao would run and win, no matter what.

Given this scenario Arum told www.insidesports.ph, Standard Today and Viva Sports “what’s there to talk about” when asked for an update on his talks with Schaefer on a Mayweather fight.

Arum said “if worse comes to worse we’ll go back to the original plan for a March 13 fight” in which the new Dallas Cowboys billion dollar stadium is the likely venue.

He said Pacquiao “will fight somebody else” although no names were mentioned and Mayweather may go to England and fight Matthew Hatton, the brother of former IBO light welterweight champion RBicky “The Hitman” Hatton which has been mentioned as a possibility and the Pacquiao-Mayweather fight will happen at the end of the year.

Arum said “anyway, let’s see what happens” after the deadline for Manny to file his Certificate of Candidacy.

MIke Tyson didnt go down in people's estimation when he fought McNealy and Julius Francis.Actually all those fights were sold out.Floyd would sell out many arenas in the UK if he fights Matthew.Did you see how packed East London was because he was just working out?

If all this turns out to be true, what a joke! If polotics is Manny's priority then he should retire from boxing. Floyd fighting who? Matthew who? What? Why? Hatton is currently ranked #28 in the world and #2 in the UK. 37-4-14 KO's. Really there nobody else a little more meaningful for Floyd to fight?

The Manny/Floyd fight should be made for early spring....no excuses from either camp.
