What do you guys think his future holds for him? Will he be able to reach the greatness of Pac or May?

LInk for confirmation. Or wait, Lomachenko, is that you?

It's always hard to predict how an amateur boxer will do in the professional ranks, since there is no head gear, and 12 rounds.

But based on his skill, I think he's going to at least win a title, and have a pretty good professional career.

He's the best amateur since Rigondeaux. Maybe not quite as good as Rigo, but he's on the same level.

He should be ready to fight the top guys in 10-12 round fights after 10-15 fights as a professional.

Hopefully he will sign with an American promotor, so we get to see him on HBO, and Showtime, and won't be sheltered away in Europe, struggling for USA airtime like a lot of other great European boxers now.

In this video to a sport channel he basically says that no matter what the outcome of the Olympics would be for him. He will turn pro and move to US because he thinks that is where the mecca of professional boxing is and not Europe or Ukraine.

i dont see him going really far i doubt he breaks top 10 p4p. amateurs is different for one, then spending too long there is also another problem, he doesnt really have a wow factor aqbout him either. he will be a solid fighter no doubt, but not some kind of atg.

BUt unlike a lot of boxers who stay in the ammy's for 2+ olympics, he's still only like 24.

It's best that he stayed in the amaterus this long to get all that experience, and allow his body to develop without taking damage like you sustain at the professional level.

It's still way too early to predict what type of career he will have, especially talking about pound for pound ranks, and "ATG-ness" But I think it's safe to say he'll at least start off very well, and likely be in contention for a title within 2-3 years of turning professional.

The main problem with these guys when they are turning at pro is that they aren't marketable and besides that they are pretty much avoided by the rest of top fighters / good names !
Cuban and East european pro boxers , in USA rarely succeed to become stars !

What weight class is he at?

    Lightweight (132 pounds).

So likely he'll start off at 130 in professional. Just a guess, maybe he starts off at 135.

    Speaking of Ukrainian amateurs...
I'm interested in seeing how Oleksandr Usyk does as a pro.

Yes he is a very good amatuer but for me he dosent have that x factor that will make him a great pro, but I hope he proves me wrong !

From the way the talent is stacked in the ammy's now, it looks like the dominance of Eastern Europe will become more, and more prevalent.

They don't **** around with their boxing.

Damn, watching that movie The Great White Hype is so funny now. Just so ironic.

    What do you mean?
That's kind of a cop-out, "Vasyl lacks a factor that I am unable to explain or describe".

Maybe if the Cubans let their guys join the league it could be very good, but as it stands I think Lomachenko who has a world of talent is wasting it.
