I hate to say it, but Ortiz doesn't have the mentality of a fighter, he may be a survivor, but nothing more nothing less. He doesn't have that tough mentality other boxers have, especially those who have been taken into deep waters early in their careers and have been able to survive. His statements after the fight revealed that mentally, he was beaten and scared. He gave up when the tough got going, and the tough only got going for a short time, because he was controlling the mid rounds up to the end of round 4. He wasn't ready for the big stage, I am not sure he will ever be ready. The difference between a natural fighter and just anyone fighting is that the natural fighter doesn't think about "is this worth me getting beat up or hurt, should I continue?, nah" during the middle of a fight.

well i mean we dont know the steps he has taken. he has had to rais ea sibling since he was barely a teen so i mean being able to speak coherently when he gets older is obviously on his mind. well like i said the better man won and i hope ortiz learns from this. i wont call him a ***** cause i have no idea how hard maidana hits haha.

Ortiz need a little of Cotto's heart. He is now retiring what a ***** go study and make a carrer or at least work at burguer king but you do not deserve to be a boxer and get pay like that. Even Khan afeter the trashing said it was nothing i comming back.

I hate when people start throwing the word ***** around. He picked the wrong sport though. I mean I completely understand that he fears he might get hurt permanently and thinks it's not worth it, not necessarily scared of the pain. But if he's afraid of getting damaged (it's not being a *****, stop watching Rocky movies) then he chose the wrong sport.

But hes not a QUITTER. There is a difference. :D

Ortiz seemed botherd by the cut as well and it wasnt nearly as big as Barerras or Cottos or even Juan Diaz's.

    Neither are quitters.

Once either one does it again they are "quitters"

Ortiz said he's young and doesn't deserve to be hit like that.
I don't know if it crossed your mind, Victor, but what about the dozens of guys you yourself knocked out inconscious ??
