Unless the dispute between IBF/WBO/IBO Heavyweight Champion Wladimir Klitschko and IBF Mandatory Challenger Alexander Povetkin on purse split and European broadcasting rights go unresolved, the fight will be made for sometime in the fall. So in this matchup between reigning world champion and the #1 undefeated contender, who do you like in this heavyweight matchup?

i think povetkin is the 3rd or 4th best hw out there right now. he is very good but wlad is just way above the rest right now. id only favor him and peter over povetkin right now.

i dont think it will be a blowout. povetkin will hang in there for the first 6 rounds and land some good shots but he doesn't have heavy hands. Wlad's size and power will start to wear him down with the end coming in round 9 via a right-cross. povetkin is just too susceptible to punches right now and u can't let wlad put his hands on u like that for too long. win or lose, povetkin is gonna get busted up pretty badly. he will go out on his shield though.

wald haters will claim the fight was a slapfest and povetkin was just another bum. he can't win....it would be pretty funny though if haye still hadn't fought yet and still criticized wlad from the Sentana studio :yep

I am wondering now if the fight will even happen. If it does I hope it is before December but that is the only date HBO has left on the schedule for 2008.

well the ibf mandated no later than nov 15 i think. i know it's november so it will happen. wlad's manager said they will get the deal done nex. what's hbo got going on in november?

the only way this fight won't come off is if povetkin pulls out.

How the hell did Alexander POVETKIN earn a title shot. He sucks. He lacks power and is easy to hit. Plus he has weak skin that cuts with ease. Wlad is being matched very carefully as you can tell. Unless Povetkin is able to connected on wlads egg chin he is going to get cut up. He's a human punching bag. I'll be glad when wlad fights someone this is getting old. Fighting all these stiffs claiming he is the best. That being said wlads chin is so weak i give Povetkin the edge in the fight.

So who does Klitschko face if his mandatory challenger drops out, the next highest rated challenger? Or does he have to wait while the IBF sanctions a #1 contender match to determine his mandatory?

Plus, in November, HBO has Calzaghe-RJJ, Taylor-Lacy, and Hatton-Malignaggi. Those are the big ones I know off the top of my head.

"Wlad is being matched very carefully"? Your joking right? Blame IBF for Povetkin, not Wlad. Povetkin won the 4 man IBF tourney. Wlad has to fight him or lose the belt. Typical Wlad hater....giving Wlad **** for fighting a guy he MUST fight

well it's highly doubtful povetkin drops out. he and his manager have been begging for this fight, calling wlad out claiming he's ducking povetkin. but if he does drop out, im not sure what the rule is.

well, the fight will be in germany so they can show it in the afternoon in the states and then the other one later

HBO is full for November. Dan Rafael said in a recent chat the only HBO date left for 2008 is December 13th.

I'm confident that the White Lion would eat Peter's lunch. It's too bad he's not the WBC mandatory, because I'd love to see it.
