Pulev had issues outjabbing guys like Dimitrenko. How on earth is he going to trouble Wlad with his jab? :rofl

You gonna make yourself look like a complete douche like you did in Povetkin vs Takam thread? :think

You disappeared mystically suddenly when Povetkin laid Takam out cold. What happened to you?:think

I didn't disappear. I was still on the forums. Unless you mean why I disappeared from the RBR thread.

I did not see the fight, so I was just going by what people were saying in the thread. And I thought it sounded like Povetkin was struggling.

Wlad-Pulev is almost guaranteed to be less exciting than Povetkin-Takam (From what I've heard, it was a very exciting fight). Povetkin and Takam are both aggressive, come-forward fighters. Pulev is like Wlad lite.

If I had to say one positive thing about this fight, it's that it's better than Wlad's last farce of a fight against Leapai. Pulev has earned his shot by beating Thompson and Ustinov.

Well I was wrong about the right cross doing the damage, but spot on for the stoppage. Got to give Pulev credit for getting up the prior 3 times, dont think many would have. He could barely stand after the 1st knockdown in rd1

    Good call :good

I was surprised he got up in the first, but I think that first knockdown essentially sealed the fight. Pulev came out with urgency to try and press the attack and stop Wlad from getting comfortable, but that left hook changed everything.

Trying to disrupt Wlad early before he settles into a rhythm is the best strategy for someone eager to spring an upset. If someone does upset Wlad, it'll be by catching him cold. But,as Iron Mike said, everyone's got a plan until they get hit in the mouth. To execute that gameplan means having to survive an ATG level puncher picking you off, and Pulev just didn't have it in him.

Pulev deserves some respect imo, came to fight (unlike haye) and survived a brutal knock down in rnd 1, was throwing leather right until he was ko'd.

Thanks. I agree with you to, about the strategy to beat Wlad. Wlad stepped it up each time Pulev touched him. And I do think that jab in the 1st rd from Pulev around the 235 mark caught Wlad by surprise and dazed him a bit. Pulev tried but your right, after that 1st knockdown I dont think he truly recovered.

Also how bad is the German camera crew or TV producers , that they decide to cut away after the 1st devastating knockdown right after Pulev has gotten up, to show an obstructed 200ft away view from in the crowd. WTF totally missed the 2nd knockdown. Who decides that that is the best time to cut away???
