Exactly. Chris had to work to stay ABOVE 200 most of his career. Him being naturally at 175 isn't shocking. But I agree with some posters, that going down in weight might hinder his previous advantages in speed, although he'd be fast even for a LHW. He also has WAY more skills than most of these LHW's and probably packs a good punch at that weight.
Totally wrong analysis, in my opinion. Ike beat him because Ike was big AND fast. Wlad was way too big and massive for Byrd. Otherwise, his best fights were against bigger, slower guys: Tua, Golota, McCline, etc. Byrd struggled with the lighter, quicker heavyweights like Oquendo, Williamson, and even Arthur Williams, who was a Cruiserweight. Much of Byrd's speed and reflexes are gone, they started going back in 2004 around the Golota fight when he sat down a lot more on his punches. He may look O.K. against a Shawn George, but no way he beats even a top guy like Glen Johnson or Dawson at this point.
He looked so much like Ray Leonard there. Makes me sad thinking what might have been the best light heavy of our generation.
your **** is all ****ed haye at LHW? but anyways he'll have more power but we won't really know how good he'll do till his 1st fight
A-MEN. Byrd looked good, and is apparently not having any problems making this weight, cause as he said, its really his natural weight. I see a bright future for him at LH. :good I bet he'll be fast and slick as ever, and his power will be more of a factor at LH. Go, BYRD! :smoke
Im sad because chris has taken too many punches, as elusive as he once was.... think about the damage hes taken... ike, wlad, wlad, golota, his last fight...
that being said i hope he wins every fight he has from here on out... he is underated and to me, deserves everything he gets. Go get em chris.
This Byrd at 175 thing could go one of two ways - either he is depleted the way Roy was when he came back down, or he is able to rejuvinate his career and make some noise in this division. Hard to tell at this point, just by looking at him, which way it'll go. It will be interesting to watch, imo.
He is a "natural" 175lb Light heavy, yet he beat McCline Vitali TUA Holyfield One thing is certain, Byrd has a great set of whiskers on him to hang with the big boys
This is gonna be really interesting to me.. i was working during fnf..I've really been wanting to see this since he stated he was moving to 175..If he isnts too depleted he does very good at light heavy
If Chris has ANYTHING left, he will be a factor at lightheavy. The real point is, the man use to fight fighters that were 50 to 75 pounds over his natural weight and he beat most of them.
