i think he feels unsure if he can live up to the hype he has build up so he blames it on the injury. if its an injury he had from collage and didnt fix it then he has fought with it in every ufc fight and its not a big injury its just on one of his fingers and why not do the surgery? imo jones is trying to milk being the champ

I would imagine the truth is that he doesn't need surgery after all. This is kind of like a press realease that builds up his image just like the whole catching a mugger thing. It may have been 50/50 surgery or not at one stage but the UFC and JJ's managemnet seem hell bent on presenting this superman type image. He is deffo one bad mofo but he isn't dumb and if the prognosis was that he should have surgery he would.
Huh? If this whole thing were staged to make Jones look good, wouldn't it have been a better idea not to cancel the fight with Evans and talk up how badass Jones is for fighting "injured." I don't see anything nefarious at play here. It sounds like the guy got a second opinion and changed his mind about going through with the surgery. That happens all the time.
Not saying the whole thing is staged, just that they probably thought it needed surgery then decided it didn't. It is then reported from the angle that JJ 'refuses' surgery in order to make it more of a story. This is how the media works.
