At what point does it go from being not "****ed for money" and turn into pricing (or using demands) to get yourself out?

Any and all boxers can name their price. But that doesn't mean their price will be realistic.

You make a great point...I think that a fighter wants fair market value...Question is as you poised when does that turn into using that to avoid a fight. Bottom line on this fight is Arum fukked this fight up the first time. I dont blame Margo for not taking the fight, and it kinda appears that he is doing the same to Cotto this time. Arum need to know that he isnt the talent and this fight could happen without him. It wouldnt be something new for Arum to lose a fighter because he wants more then his share of money. I am in the corner of ALL fighters when it comes to getting the most money they can every time out. Any and every fight could be thier last fight. Arum's will be here like a fukking roach..FOREVER.

I dont get the sense that Cotto would let close money get in the way, which would lead me to think that the two sides are FAR apart, and we know arums track record.

I dont know, I just have a hard time blaming fighters for not fighting for what they think that a fight is worth. Even if it is career high money.

I personally think that the fight will get signed and it will happen, I just dont think that Arum could afford to **** off Cotto, hell its not like he has a host of other top level guys. I cant really think of any outside Cotto, Pac and Pavlik.

I did however find something interesting as far as this whole topic goes, as i was thinking about Arum fighters I jumped over to his website and nowhere did i find one mention of this fight. He has dates all the way thought the end of the year and not one peep about Cotto vs Margo...Maybe nothing maybe it is, I dont know.

As we all know promoter are not manager , and they make there profit by paying the fighter as little as possible , this is a know fact of the business ..margarito is is dept with Arum for taking the Williams fight while under contract, so he had no choice but the sign the contract first , but cotto has options and no doubt he exercising them all at this point which may be the reason for the delay of the signing.

You're not suggesting Margarito is somehow blocking this fight? If he is, it's news to me.

They did both sounded interested in fighting when talking about it before their recent fights. You'd think an agreement in house wouldn't be too difficult. But that's boxing for ya. It was scheduled, like July 20 something. If it's not signed by June, I might start getting worried.

No, not this time. Im talkinb about the first fight were Margo opted to fight Williams rather then take it in the backside from Arum in a fight were he should have made some major money.

Yeah one would think that both guys being promoted by the same guy would make it easy to get the fight done. But in the end both guys have thier own teams looking out for thier best interest. ANd not what is in the best interest of Arum. Keep in mind that Arum didnt want to be apart of the biggest money fight in boxing history because he didnt feel that his cut would be big enough...Talk about a greedy a$$

we had this exact same situation for months leading up to the calzaghe v kessler fight.

it was still made in the end, despite months of protracted wrangling.

i expect the margarito v cotto fight to be the same .

I bet Oscar is meddling against good boxing again because the HBO puppets were actually promoting a so called Oscar/Cotto showdown during the Forbes exhibition.

Furthermore, I am also sure that Oscar hates Margarito for exposing his sparing tantrums; and when the Floyd/Margo match was being offered up Oscar suddenly began his own offers and had three or four of his middleweights calling out Margarito with the fervor of henchmen.

Now he is trying disrupt a great Cambell/Casamayor fight and I bet its because Nate insulted Richard Schaefer.

More arum than anything else causing this fight to be on the brinks. I still and have always felt Marg beats Cotto who pressures even better. KO for Marg if Cotto signs.

Cotto will fight Margo, you can count on that. Who do you think he is, Floyd? Cotto never run from his opponents...he runs through them.

Unlike you I understand that fighters arent scared to fight anyone. I never once said that Cotto is running from anyone. You morons dont understand fight BUSINESS of BOXING. All you care about is every fight being a big fight. Not understanding that that isnt good for boxing.

I just got home from Puerto Rico. Three hours ago to be more accurate. Cotto is just negotiating a few points. A man has a right to do that and secure his future. That fight is going to happen. Don't you worry. Cotto is just very smart and don't sign anything Arum gives too quickly. The rest is just BS some people is talking. IS all bussiness related. Cotto has no problem with fighting Margarito
