or excuses...the whole "I don't want it anymore"
sounds like a built in ready made excuse to me.

De La Hoya K.O. Mayweather 9 (Why not...F it)

I would have picked Mayweather, but seeing that he is basically ruining what would have been a lucrative rematch in which he would have been favored, that is not good for his legacy.

Looking back, it will be remembered that he retired in light of what was set to be a BIG rematch - and he's not old, or washed up. There really isn't an excuse for him to walk away AT THIS MOMENT.

Other than the simple fact that he just DIDNT want to fight a De La Hoya rematch. Or Cotto. Or Mosley. Or Margarito.

After intense soul-searching, I have come to the conclusion that September 20th will still be one of the least interesting Saturdays of boxing this year.

good post i agree he is only about 4 fights away from proving to all of us he is an all time great but he does not dare to be great he just wants people to think he is without proving it.

When he comes out of retirement to defeat an Oscar De La Hoya who showed his class by outpointing living legend Steve Forbes it will go down as one of the great boxing comebacks comparable only to Ali and Leonard.

Or so he will tell us.
