Oh FFS! In sport your anthem gets booed. The Welsh anthem gets booed in England and the English anthem gets booed in Wales.

Any two nations playing footbal, usually one anthem gets booed. The stronger the rivalry the more it gets booed. That is the way it is. It is also customery in most nations to sing the national anthem as loud as possible to show your patriotism and drown out the other fans etc, as opposed to the American culture of having someone sing it in an over-the-top style whilst everyone else is silent in 'respect'.

The whole reason for having home advantage in sports is to make for an intimidating atmosphere for the 'away' team.

It is NOT about 'hating' on America/Americans, but just the culture in sports here.

 

I dont get the thought process behind....OH ITS BEEN DONE IN THE US BEFORE???? So in San Jose, before a hockey game, it was done as well to the Canadian anthem??? And that makes us hypocrytes??? Why, how, I mean, were WE all at the game doing it??? Did WE anywhere on this thread condone that bull****??? Did anyone ask us??

Booing ANY anthem is wrong and classless.

Want a better example....a few years back, in Montreal, Canadians fans (the hockey team for those who are confused...) booed the US national anthem terribly before a game vs the Boston Bruins. The next time the Canadians were in Boston....WE GAVE THEIR ANTHEM A STANDING OVATION!!! THE ENTIRE ****ING ARENA!!!!

There are euro posters on here who feel its a classless act to boo the anthem...I dont lump them into the fray with those idiots at last nights fight. Hell, I dont lump everyone who attended together, as Im sure some of them had a semblance of respect.

To call us hypocrytes because some classless americans booed another anthem as well, is about as uneducated an outlook you can have on this subject. But from classless ****s who find it ok to boo an anthem in the first place....why should I expect any less???

Really? :huh Where are the 'no-go' areas for Muslims in my area then? I am going to write to my local MP and complain the Muslim 'no-go' areas are not properly marked and signposted.

Black players get '******-hooted' in Spain and Italy mainly, with a few cases in the balkan states.

 

look british ppl are cool but booing a national anthem in someone else's country is classless. this is hypocritical when people from the Uk are always calling Americans classless. If Americans outnumbered british fans in a fight in britain and booed their anthem brits would be pissed too.
