Legal body shots don't have to land above the navel to be legal.

I think we've discussed this before. We're not looking here at a single shot. Yes, the last blow was low. But Weeks had seen enough by then. Kovalev looked to Weeks in shear desperation, after taking 2, 100% clean body shots. He then took the big right hand, and his legs had gone. All he fired back was 2 feeble jabs, before he ended up on the ropes hunched over. The first shot in that sequence looked legal to me. And then he kept firing, with nothing in return. Weeks made his mind up because he'd seen enough. His decision was based on what had happened in the whole round, not just the very last shot, which he missed.

I've said it many times, that last shot was the straw that broke the camels back. It was unfortunate it was low, but again, he'd already seen enough at that point. People want to act like Andre only won on a foul, when the truth is, Kovalev was tired and hunched over, taking unanswered shots. Kovalev wasn't robbed. If anything, Andre was robbed of a clean win. And that last shot could have landed anywhere, Weeks made a split second decision based on the culmination of shots.

I can't agree that there was in any way any corruption at work. And what people need to ask themselves, is that if Kovalev hadn't looked for help from the shots which were 100% legal, then maybe Weeks would have given him more leeway right at the end. Because a good referee takes everything into account. They're not just looking solely on the shots that land, they're also looking at a fighter's body language etc.
